The little birdie that told me I’d have some Plasma in stock soon was wrong. Maybe also to trusting with the producer.. unfortunately PLASMA is done, all sold out, never to be sold again. Overall, I’m Not really sure what to believe.. Either way, it was a success for a short time, I’m glad I was able to contribute this awesome idea to the magic community but definitely bummed that it’s been discontinued for good..
Thank you to everyone who supported this project, it helped me more than you know! I appreciate all the continued support of all my effects over the years, more good things are on there way! |

Thanks for the clarification, Nicholas. I guess we'll never know for sure if the story was true. I'm glad I got a copy of Plasma regardless; it is a great trick.

I had the same issue of super glue finger print, which isn't too big of a deal but the plate on the inside that allows it to close when the gimmick is out was actually sticking out so the lighter wouldn't close! I had to take it off and reglue it. Assuming it works when I finally perform it, 25 bucks is still a good deal. It's seems perfect to use with an Origami box as a someone already mentioned.

I just watched the tutorial the napkin performance seems to work best for me I like the clean-up .Also the open performance in the hand is nice with the fingertips
surrounding the penetration area really sells the illusion ! |

Try it this way if you have this effect you will know what I am refering to : Perform the penetration in the open display ( No napkin) in your hand after you penetrate the pen through the lighter open the lid
the lighter now becomes regular size . You can show it all around ( Turning your hand back & forth showing both sides) as long as your thumb & finger are across the lighter & the pen is through your index finger & second finger the display is perfect ! You now pull the pen out close the lid No noise to hear only the closing of the lid which is your clean up ! Hand the lighter & pen out for examination ! Try it let me know what you think . Geez that sucks I hope I don't have that problem !! You mean the hidge on the lid ? I wonder if you can buy a regular silver Zippo 19.00 & place the gimmick inside of the
new regular zippo lighter ? The insert is removable on a regular zippo so you can fill it with fluid just like the plasma zippo. As long as you have the gimmick you should be able to insert it into any zippo . |

Without publicly going into detail of how Plasma works, swapping out the casing from a regular zippo may be more work then repairing Plasma with JB Weld. As the hinge placement is different.
When I got Plasma months ago, the hinge was mounted wrong, that was preventing the lid from closing properly (it was causing the cam to hit the clip in the lid incorrectly). Ellusionist sent me a replacement (again this was months ago, when they had it in stock). |

Mine also breaks today. I think the empty Box is more worth.I throw the lighter away. I like Mr. Lawrence and his creations but this was absolutely crap.

Personally I don’t buy the story from E. More like they need a reason to put the crap on 50% off and get rip of the stock. Like Nicholas said. It was a short success. They cash in already and it’s done. Time to move on to the next scam.

As a couple of others had mentioned, when accidentally overfilling the lighter the tape inside will leak adhesive which will make the gimmick difficult to remove. Mine is stuck again; very stuck after sitting for a long time. I am afraid to use pliers to get it out. Any other suggestion for removing it are appreciated. :/ Thanks!

Hey Nicholas, hey guys, can you help with the following question? I’d like to have Plasma on me as an everyday carry. Unfortunately the lighter fluid appears to be fizzling out fast. After refilling to the max it only takes a few days — without any usage — and „puff“ no more lighter fluid. Is this typical for petrol lighters? How do you deal with it?

Just fill it before you go out. It only takes a few seconds. I have a few Zippos I've gimmicked for various things and I need to refill after every three performances. That's kind of a pain that keeps me from bringing them out all of the time, but mine are made with tin snips and epoxy 😂 I imagine Plasma is built much better.

Thanks for putting it into perspective. I had no idea and hence was not sure if it was my fault or if this is normal. Now I know and it makes it easier to deal with.

Yeah, no worries, man. Glad to help.
If you're brand new to Zippo use, there's an inevitable mistake we all make. If you haven't done it yet, you will. Since there's no way to see fluid level, at some point we're going to over fill it. You can test light it real quick and think you're fine, but then it shifts around in your pocket, the excess fluid spills out all over the lighter, you take it out and light it, and all of a sudden the lid and the entire lighter are in flames. So after you refill, don't just test light it, make sure to tilt it back and forth every which way so you're sure to burn off all of the excess overflow and avoid an embarrassing situation in the middle of an effect. The Zippo penetration I built is done while the Zippo is lit. I once set half my hand on fire, yelped, and sent my gimmick flying across the bar 😂 That's way less likely to happen to you with three days usage, I was just sloppy having to refill the thing all of the time.

I have overfilled a zippo, more than once unfortunately. That is good advice MattyMediocrity.
