Hello from Australia.
As an amateur card enthusiast getting back to card magic after a bit of time off and are beginning to review my performance technique and patter. My philosophy has changed a little and I'm adjusting from trying to just do tricks really cleanly to baffle people to sharing an entertaining magic experience with people. As part of that, I'm now uncomfortable with describing magic using the work "trick" as I feel a successful trick results in the spectator being fooled which is not the experience I am looking to give. I also find using the word "magic" is a bit too far the other way (for adults), often putting them in a doubtful or skeptical mindset. Let's face it, as an adult most of us have the view that magic per se is not real. I welcome suggestions, recommendations and comments on how others out their frame their performances for the best outcomes. Cheers! |

Welcome! Lots of opinions will be forthcoming, I'm sure, as you venture into the Café to explore these things!
