It is super exciting to start performing again in Baltimore! Performing Bizarre Magic (Magick too) specifically! Poe's Magic Theatre, named after the great American literally artist Edgar Allan Poe, is on track to stay on brand. We will only have a very select style of magic there - magic with meaning. I think this is the core of what storytelling magic and Bizarre is. Meaningful. Magic should be more than just a collection of tricks. So, although there are some magicians performing at Poe's that might not think of themselves as Bizarrists, their magic always has meaning. They connect with audiences in a way that inspire, illuminate and sometimes provoke philosophical ruminations. This is the basis of great storytelling. In the past year I, and similar minded friends, have endeavored to invoke more of this thought process in magic circles. Poe's Magic Theatre, the Bizarre Hauntings Conference, Poe's Magic Academy with Stevens Magic Emporium, articles in mainstream magic publications and dozens of posts, interviews, etc, etc. I think magic may finally be heading toward embracing aspects of Bizarre performance. Theatricality and narrative is being seen more. Bizarre and storytelling elements are some of the most popular performances on shows like AGT, BGT, Fool US and other such shows. In live performances, Todd Robbins' recent success in NYC with Haunt Quest is a fine example. In Zoom shows, David Parr's Sorcerer's Lair. Derek DelGaudio's Hulu special, for all intents and purposes, is an example of Bizarre Magical thinking. Let's hope this trend continues. Keep being unique everyone!

Agreed. It feels like the time is right for a resurgence in live magic performances, especially ones that have plenty of substance and not just style
