Hi all,
I am looking to possibly identify the maker or era of these nesting boxes. There are no identifying marks. If there are particulars or more detail description needed let me know. I can provide them. The wood box is 9 x 9 inches, and the smallest of the boxes is metal and is 5 X 5inches. Originally the metal (Steel) boxes were in cosmetically, bad condition so I had them professionally repainted. The smallest box is the gimmicked box. (I’m not sure If I am allowed to explain the gimmick on this group). Here is the brief history as I know it. As well as the suggested routine and handling. I purchased these from a friend and magician (George Weisensel). I met George in 1969 and would assist him from time to time for his shows. In the late 70's George gave up performing magic and started a dog act. In 1985, along with some other items, I bought these boxes from him. Keep in mind he was 96 years old when I bought these from him. I am sure he had these boxes since the 1950’s maybe earlier. (He started performing magic in around 1915. George probably peaked in performing in the late 20's through the 50's. He never did have an elaborate stage show. I do know that George never really purchased anything of significance for magic since I knew him other than cards or books. In fact, he had started downsizing his collection. Thanks for your help and expertise. Click here to view attached image.

Sorry I can't help too much. It appears to be newer style of hardware. I would say from the 1960's or so.
