Secrets of Dr. Sigmund Fraud
And just who was this person with many secrets? Perhaps you have also heard of Swami Salami or maybe even Terry Nosek. Actually he was all three and just chose one depending on the occasion. This new book by Jim Magus is a long needed tribute to a very god man who was also a heck of an entertainer. Whether he was performing Comedy Mentalism in nightclubs and comedy clubs or helping MyM create a stage the Invocationals he was a true entertainer. Just imagine the havoc that could rain down when he and Robin DeWitt (Kardor) teamed up and laid waste as a duo at an Invo or MOTM. Yes, a lot of people don’t even know that Terry was the 2nd President of PEA briefly while Anthony Raven took a short break right after the founding of the organization. The Swami came in doing comedy magic for children. Since he was the father of three he knew what worked. He would even spill some of this over into what we think of today as Bizarre Magick with a twist. The prime example of him using the Abbott Arrow Head Box. Since he didn’t want a “muggle” to find out the secret he would pick his daughter Colleen to volunteer to have her head in the box. The twist was he would ask her when she got up on stage if they had ever met before. With a straight face she would answer “No Dad!” In this book are routines that are not only Terry’s own creations but versions of effects created by David Himelrick, Nick Lewin, Mark Strivings, and Jim Magus. Heck he even came up with a variation of Max Maven’s Zodiaction! All of this is material that most people have either forgotten or never heard of and then warped it for own use in the realm of spooky and bizarre. Since TEB3 knows something about being three people, I was delighted when Jim asked me to read this about Terry Nosek, a very dear friend to a lot of us. Hi Jim,
Are the routines in your book the same as in Terry's original book? Any overlap? |
Jim Magus Loyal user 246 Posts |
Of the thirty five or so routines in the book, two of them came from the Complete Works of Dr. Sigmund Fraud. Abbott's has the rights to Terry's Complete Works, and I obtained permission from Abbott's to include two classics from there. I include a dozen of my own routines, Mark Strivings contributed one, David Himelrick contributed one, and Nick Lewin contributed one.

So just to ne clear before ordering, is this spooky and bizarre magic or comedy mentalism?

Comedy mentalism for the most part, with a few serious mentalism bits thrown in.
