I just bought a Poljot Aviator III manual chronograph, and I must recommend this brand of watch to anyone wanting a manual winding watch. The build is excellent, the movement is accurate, and they only make runs of 1000. So you get a watch which only 999 other people can buy. each piece is numbered.

I have an "atomic" watch by La Crosse. It cost me $30.00 on e-bay and I don't think that I will ever buy a non atomic watch ever again.
I understand that a watch to many people is also a piece of jewelry and that is fine but for me I just want as much accuracy as possible and my watch is extremely accurate. I also have 3 atomic clocks in my home and it is really cool to see that all of my timepieces are synchronized. Iven

When you say your watch is 'atomic' [hold on, I'm doing a google ].
Quote:
Watches were made to keep time — and this is the first self-set watch that’s qualified to do it right. The La Crosse radio-controlled watch serves its purpose in an old-fashioned, futuristic, “War of the Worlds” style. Set the time zone, and you never have to do a thing except change the battery — which is pretty easy. Every night the watch calibrates itself to the Atomic clock in Ft. Collins, Colorado — the most accurate clock in the world. Weight: 2.7 ozs. Not for Hawaii or Alaska. Size: Face 1.5" W x 2" H x 0.375" D. Ahhh, now I see. It's a touch futuristic in its styling, and I guess you can never turn up late with 'your watch was running slow' as an excuse I have the added feeling of security in the fact that my watch will still function after an EM Pulse from a nuclear(or other) source. So I will always know the time during the nuclear winter that follows 8/

My question is, why do you need to know what time it is in a "Nuclear Winter"? No Job, No TV, No Radio and it will be nightime all the time. Gee, now that I think of it, it sounds kinda cool to me. Iven

I collect mechanical watches, both automatic and hand-wound. They are engineering marvels, largely built by the hands of skilled craftsmen. To watch one of these mini-machines operate is still fills me with awe.
That said, I too have an "atomic" watch made by Casio. It is accurate to 1/1000 of a second per century and can be purchased for less than $30.00. Given the very brief history of time-keeping in this world, this is simply an amazing accomplishment. Tiki |

I have a $10 watch from Wal-Mart on a $20 leather watch-band. Something is wrong with me!

Watches....let's see....I have one Goofy watch that runs backwards, one Timex watch that my kids gave me one Mother's Day, and about ten assorted watches with various picture of Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. My pride and joy is a watch I picked up at the Mall of America...it has a picture of Snoopy from the '50's on it, and it is a limited edition...only 2500 made. People are surprised I actually wear that one, but I save it for special occasions, not for every day wear.

I bet that's a quality leather band though FD
My friends kid could not understand why my watch didn't need batteries, he'd only been exposed to electronic timepieces and never seen a mechanism before. :O The look on his face at all those tiny moving parts in such a small place was a treasure.
