From our local paper:
Ths Senior Center seeks clowns, jugglers, magicians, face painters, and other goofy types for its carnival July 24.

Sorry am not in Anchorage, Alaska. Sounds like it could be a good time
Think I'll take a trip down to the local library this week and see if they have any summer programs going on for children and offer a free show or two

Looks like my attempt at subtlety and sarcasm was thwarted by the limitations of electronic communication and my failure to adequately communicate for the medium.
I didn't mean for this to be a call for magicians to come and perform. When I read this in the paper, I was perturbed that magicians were lumped in as a "goofy type". Now I have a good idea where the public gets that impression from in my area, but is that something "non-goofy" magicians run into in other areas?

You bill yourself as Alaska's Comedy Magician and you don't consider yourself the goofy type?
I guess I won't cancel my flight if you aren't going to heed the call? |

I don't mind being lumped in with jugglers, or even clowns, but when they start associating magicians with face painters, that really gets my gander.
I'll own that I'm somewhat goofy, but don't go comparing me to face painters. |

At least they didn't lump us in with mimes.

Okay I'm in!
Now Bill, I've taken exception to your post..hrph! I only paint my own face however, and not others..still! A lot of women apply "face paint" even if it's only the natural stuff that people don't know is there. So in theory a majority of women are "face painters" ..see now it may have gotten your gander but you've gotten my gender. Ha Ha! Chrystal :O) |

Gee, consider what the jugglers, face painters, and clowns must think! LOL! |

Sorry Chrystal, I was just being goofy. I don't really have a problem with face painters. In fact, some of my best friends are face painters. No offense intended.

Can you imagine the look a melee' amongst clowns, magicians, jugglers, and face painters?
Flying pins, balls, paint, rubber chickens, and magicians props of varying sorts? What a scene indeed? I don't think this discussion went in the way Mr. Robbins had intended, but it sure has been fun reading the posts! ~r2 "Goofy and Proud" |

ReyRey, I think you just came up with a great idea for the next Fox magic special. Clowns kicking with their big shoes, magicians throwing playing cards like ninja stars, balloon-twisters inefectually hitting people with inflated poodles and mimes not being able to scream about it... Ahhh, this image warms my heart!

I always thought that it would be a funny thing to do a movie about clown camp... Do it like a summer camp for clowns.
Have them camp out in pup tents with patches. Water ski with clown shows. Rubber chicken and pie fights at meal time. Etc...

Only if it's about a clown camp burning to the ground with all the clowns in it.
