I just got my copy of this incredible book several hours when my fiance surprised me with it as a gift. My Birthday is in two days so I thought it was the greatest gift I could have asked for. I had been on the fence about buying it myself because of its price, but my amazing fiance made the decision a whole lot easier and I couldn't be happier about that.
I am getting very excited because I can already see the unbelievable potential here. This is not another anagram, or fishing expedition, or restricting the participant's choices, or any of the other ploys we generally utilize to create our miracles. This is an entirely propless system that allows you to divine a word (of any length) that your spectator is just thinking of. You can have them think of a male or female name, an animal, an object, and so much more. Fraser has discovered some next-level tools that are based on his understanding of how human minds process things. I don't want to give much away, but once you know these tools, and understand them, you will be able to pull off miracles. I have not finished the book yet, but I sure am having a hard time putting it down. haha I am wondering if anyone else has read the book, is performing the material for people yet, and the results you are getting if so. I will probably have to read the book, or at least skim it, one more time once I finish it. But I am already starting to really understand it and am getting beyond excited for the miracles I know that I will be able to perform once I have the material down solid. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts, experiences, even criticisms if you don't mind sharing. Best Wishes Matthew

Your assumption of it ‘being incredible’ is benchmarked against what exactly? ie - What other books you’ve actually read in this genre? How can your comments be taken seriously when you haven’t even finished reading this book that you’re already gushing about?!

Let me start by saying I apologize for my original post. After reading the comments and re-reading the post, it was not my finest moment…
I have been on the Café for a couple years now. I may have jumped the gun and got a little carried away in my post. I believe this was my first or second time time posting (as opposed to just reading the amazing comments, thoughts, insights and conversations that take place here), and I do apologize for not having given it a bit more thought. Having finished the book for the second time now, I hope I can provide a more thoughtful review. I have been studying, practicing and performing Mentalism and Magic full time for over 8 years now. I have read numerous books and have many mentalists and magicians I admire and respect greatly. I am not sure if anyone on this thread has read Fraser’s book, Sui Generis. But if some of you have, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I found the book to be unlike any I have read to date. The concepts taught allow you to deduce a thought of word without asking the spectator more than a couple questions that by no means should allow a person to know the exact word they are thinking. I can see it is going to take some practice to get it down solid, but after trying it casually two times, I got it right and both people were blown away. I am nowhere near ready to perform it professionally during a gig yet, but I can see myself being there in a matter of weeks. But besides the method / routines taught in the book, the skills I learned will be very helpful in so many other Mentalism routines I do. I don’t want to say much more because I feel I would have to give away the method to do so. I recommend the book for sure. It is not cheap, but I think it is well worth the investment. Again, I am sorry I came across the way I did in the first post. I was just excited because this was something completely new and in many ways, a game changer. It was similar to the way I felt when I read Atlas Brookings Train Tracking. That book also had me so excited because I had never read anything like it, and the material taught was useful and helpful in so many contexts. (That is another book I highly recommend, if you can get a copy.) Would love to hear anyone else’s thoughts on the book / methods. Best wishes, Matthew

I believe context is most important. MagicByMattahew, are you a working professional performer? Not for just family and friends but for paying clients and audiences?
It seems from the pros that are familiar with this it is not very well-received as I'm hearing things like it is very in consistent, unreliable, and not good for real-world performance situations. Yet, the hobbyists, street performers, and family and friend performers seem to think more highly of it. So I am quite curious to create the proper context. |

After a while you can become quite jaded and fed up of the hyping and hyperbole of weak effects and even weaker books being pushed out to the community. I’m glad you’re enjoying it and I hope you get a lot of use from it. Best wishes, Robert.

Annnnnd has anyone else read this and able to offer a review? After being beyond disappointed with his overpriced and over hyped works in the past, it would take some reviews from regulars I know and trust before even considering it. (Zero (!) offense to the OP). Hope to hear more about it though and keep an open mind.

In the meanwhile, I wish you all the best and wanted to recommend Elementary by Drew Backenstass (not sure of spelling) if you haven't read it. That is a fantastic book I am just about done with.

Elementary is fantastic I couldn’t agree more. Highest of recommendations for it.
