*Quite a while back*, on a short trip, I got to stop into Tannen's in New York.
They were super kind, and it was a decent experience. I bought a Mastermind deck. After returning home, I noticed that the deck is practically "unspreadable". It has an extremely rough texture -- but not the kind of texture on, say, Invisible type decks that I've purchased, or made. This feels like the texture of the coating on the cards themselves is "catching". For example, if rubbing any two cards together, You can literally hear the sound of the friction. I am assuming this is NOT normal, and was perhaps a manufacturing problem? Has anyone run into this, and is there a remedy? |

I've heard of this issue with the Mastermind deck. One possible solution is fanning powder, but I'm not sure how well it would work. You drop the deck in a big bag, add fanning powder, and shake. Every card should get coated
Is your deck a Bicycle back design? |

I believe my Mastermind deck is rough like you describe and fanning powder helped.

This issue has been reported with a LOT of Mastermind decks. See for example:
