Hi all, one of my favorite controls is putting pressure on the top card and bottom card at the same time and then shuffle of.
By doing so the original top card ends 2nd at the bottom, covered by the original bottom card. Welcome starting position for many tricks. QUESTION: What is the official name of this shuffle/control and who is the founder? |

Unfortunately we'll probably never know who originated the sleight. But we do know what to call it. It is generally referred to as a 'Milk Shuffle" and there are variations of it. What you describe is the basic "milking" process and it is very, very old. For more info, go to conjuringarchive.com and search for milk, milk shuffle, etc.

The control you’re describing is generally known as an overhand shuffle control of top and bottom cards, though in your case you're only concerned with controlling the top one. It does start with a milking action but it’s not a Milk Shuffle.
It’s called Retaining the Top and Bottom Card in Position in Royal Road to Card Magic and Control of the Top and Bottom Cards in Giobbi’s Card College Vol. 1. The originator is indeed unknown.
Protect me from my friends, I'll deal with my enemies.

^^^ "it’s not a Milk Shuffle." ^^^
You are correct. It's a Milk Build Shuffle. |
