Docc's version isn't meant to be a vanishing page from any book effect. It's meant to be a "I made you see something that wasn't there" effect. That's the reason for Docc using only one book as opposed to "I can do this with anyone's random book." He discourages against turning the effect into a vanishing page effect. If you know the construction of the effect then you'll understand why. But, hec, no reason one can't break a few rules right ?
