Writing about Todd Lassen in a previous post reminds me of his last piece of new work, a nested Morgan $2.85 set (within two halves of a dollar) he called No Reasonable Application (NRA). It was unique in the way the set was constructed. Only nine sets were produced and he sadly died literally days before he was about to dispatch them. I am aware that several of these sets were eventually dispatched by his daughter Lily to the lucky few who had paid for them.
So my question is: is anyone using an NRA in their work? I've yet to see this mentioned anywhere |

8 of the 9 were dispatched by Lily and the 9th person never came forward to claim his. Whether they are being actively used or a prized collector’s piece, it is a unique re-thinking of the $2.85 coin trick. It is unlikely any of them will come up for sale.

Unless it sells at that price, that doesn't mean that's the current perceived value.

He was the very best at his craft with no current artist to match him. I have Schoolcraft, probably second in line, but not close to Lassen in quality.

I was able to get hold of his Peace dollar shell set around late last year for under $400
People on eBay will pay whatever they are willing to pay, I suggest you look elsewhere for the "reasonable" price notwithstanding this, Todd's gaff is truly gaining value each every single day. |

If you want a Killer routine for a $ 2.85 set . look at a Mary Wolf routine from John Mendoza's Book ( John Verse 2 ) PG. 126 ! I don't know the Book my be out of Print It was put out in 1980 ! so you may have to look around for It !

I have a beautiful soft Peace Dollar set with shell. Wondering what I should ask for it these days. Any thoughts?

I've seen the going rate to be anywhere from 1.5x to 2.5x of the "2014 custom prices" for Todd's coins - the last posted list on his blog. No hallmark may be a tougher sale. An email, receipt or something like that might help. The harder to find stuff generally goes for the higher prices but there have been some crazy high ebay listings lately - even for his clad stuff.

One of my prized sets from Todd was a shell set of the Silver Eagle dollars. Really miss Todd and his awesome work.
