I love the idea of effects that you can immediately get into from a brand new deck. Two of my favorites are "Royal Open" by Jason Ladanye and "The Marlo Opener." I would love to hear some of your favorites that I can chase down and learn!

Mnemonica (and I'm assuming some other stacks as well) has a method of getting into it from NDO. Admittedly a bit of a technical shuffling sequence, but if you can get it down, you're set with Mnemonica and all its' associated miracles from a brand new deck.

Do a couple of false shuffles then use NDO as your stack

There is a way to get into the Aronson stack from a new deck. I just can't recall how.

That old fossil Stebbins can be gotten into from NDO per Ortiz's method in "At The Card Table".
I use it all the time. Cheers!

It's quite often mistaken as a single trick, but it's quite a powerful series of effects when performed as originally taught in print. I no longer perform it (as described), but it remains one of my favorite opening sequences. |

Sometimes I open my cardmagic act with this effect: I quickly faroshuffle the new deck 8 times. AND then show the audience that all the cards are in perfect order...

I have a few effects that I do on the way to Mnemonica when opening a fresh pack. One was loosely inspired by Matching The Cards.
If I remember correctly there are a few/many in Lorayne’s Apocalypse. Bet Behr’s site would be super helpful overall. |

I’m no Jason Ladayne, (but then again who is?) but from a new deck or any regular deck, theirs or yours, I like to do something called “Just 3 Things.” It amazes people to no end, you hardly handle the deck and the specs do most of the work. I love presenting it, and it is a great card trick for anybody, but especially for a decent at best coin guy like myself.

As a matter of fact, it is in print, and from a decent at best coin guy, too. Hope you like it.

I think Brute Force Opener from Dennis Behr is fantastic. Easy and stunning.

I definetely get into Mnemonica as well. I wanted to see if there has been other thinking on this because having a stack (in this case, new deck order) is such an advantage! |

There is a cool and easy effect (but strong to the layman) using the prophesy move that can be done with a freshly opened deck. It's taught by Diamond Jim Tyler on his 2017 Penguin Lecture.

That describes much of magic. Magic doesn't have to be difficult in order to be mysterious. I think magicians can be guilty of forgetting that at times.

I really don't think there's a way to get into Aronson from new deck order except by brute force. The stack is designed for some poker demos and ace cutting. It's not based on Si Stebbins or some other order based on a mathematical pattern like Redford stack.
