Foreign languages rhyme with word eight
I have a stack on another thread that uses the English rhyme: "two, four, six, eight who do we appreciate". https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......tart=0#2 Those of you out there who speak another language please submit a translation of the above rhyme for your language but try to make a new phrase that makes sense and that rhymes with "eight" in your language and has a good rhythm. Here is my feeble attempt in Spanish: "Dos, cuatro, seis, ocho xxxxx, yyyyy, zzzzz in toto". Please submit your rhyme. Thanks. ----------------------- |

In German
"Zwei, Vier, Sechs, Acht - hab eine gute Nacht! |

Translation: "two four six eight have a good night" (of course in German number 8 acht rhymes with the word night nacht).
What about "grobmacht" (power) for the last word? Thanks hcs! |

Three possible French rhymes:
Deux, quatre, six, huit vous connaissez la suite. (2,4,6, 8 you know the rest) Deux, quatre, six, huit les carottes sont cuites. (2,4,6, 8 the carrots are cooked - which means everything is lost or over. Very common French expression.) Deux, quatre, six, huit vivement minuit. (2,4,6, 8 hurry midnight) |

Thanks Claudio! Oh I forgot to mention that the rhyme needs to be applied to playing cards ie: to the two, four, six, eight so that when a spectator names a playing card that it will be one of those four cards and then they choose a suit.
In my original English post the last word of the phrase is "appreciate" therefore the magician's instructions to the spectator can be something like "we appreciate those cards therefore name one of those". In the German phrase if the last word is power "grobmacht" the magician can say "those cards are powerful so name one of those". In French the meaning of the phrase "the carrots are cooked" could maybe used by the magician to say something like "today we can magically use those numbers to uncook our carrots therefore name one of those numbers". Thanks again! |

Quote: Again (my former contribution evaporated strangerly), grobmacht isn't a usual German word.

For a German audience I was trying to think of how the rhyme could be applied to playing cards and at first could not see how the word nacht would fit, but now I understand because the magician can just say the German rhyme (to a German audience) and then say the German equivalent of "for us to have a good night please choose one of those numbers".

Also, a possible rhyme "Waehle eine Zwei, Vier, Sechs oder Acht - und habe eine gute Nacht!" ("Choose a two, four, six, or eight - and enjoy a good night!")

Here's something I came up with in Italian:
Due, quattro, sei, otto! Se non fossi crudo, saresti cotto! English translation: Two, four, six, eight! If you weren't raw, you'd be cooked! |
