Lets make this official!
As a member of Escape Masters I am making a challenge to ANY and ALL escape artists! The challenge is to see who can raise the most money in a single show for MDA BEFORE Labor Day and the Annual MDA telethon. There will be three divisions: 1. Youth (17 and under) 2. Adult (over 18) 3. Professional Escape Artist (you know who you are). Now each of the three winners will get something from Ian (I am paying for it so don't think you are going to get a milk can). Proof will be a verifiable recipt from the MDA, and I will check, of the money you gave them from a single show. Of course, my hope is you will do several shows, and give them the money, but only funds from a single show, or back yard carnival count. No adding them up. No Tony, selling tickets to the naked sex crazed women escape is not allowed. So, OK "tough guys", show me what real tough guys do, we take care of those who need our help. Think about this money being taken to the Local TV stations and given. Think about the right calls to the right people and perhaps ONE of you might get a better feeling for what your escape accomplished, beyond your own ego. My gauntlet is on the floor.... ...who dares to pick it up? I'll even go this far... If someone REALLY out does everyone in raising money for MDA (I will come up with a few people to vote on this) I will make up that water drum escape and give it to them! I am going to want to see press on these events for this award. Now, who is up for the challenge? |

A few questions.
1) Can this challenge be widened to include fundraisers for organisations other than the MDA? You might not have noticed, but not all of us live in America 2) When the heck is labour day? I am currently planning a fundraiser that I believe will kick the pants off anything else anyone might have in mind, it is for a homeless persons charity called The Big Issue, which is based here in the UK. The fundraiser will include TWO attempts at seperate escape world records by myself and a sideshow world record attempt by Martin 'Pain Proof Man' Cole. We expect to reap 3 world records and around £10,000 in raised funds (about $18,000). That's gotta be worth bending the rules for! Cheers David Straitjacket

In another thread you said that no-one had accepted your MDA challenge. Given how the only change I proposed when I made MY acceptance above is based on that fact that I ALREADY have an agreement with another charity. Everything else remains the same, an escape event to raise money for a charity. I call that an acceptence.
Or perhaps you are just scared that I might take that water drum off your hands when I raise what I say I will David Straitjacket

I have one Challenge Here. and this goes to anyone here. for those that are bickering/arguing here on the board lets see who can go the longest without bickering. now there are no prizes here sorry who'll like a set of handcuffs etc. there will also be no front page news for this. but hopefully what will happen is that this board will return to normal. Don,

Well David, with all due respect....
A table is not a bed even though you can sleep on it... And poop isn't apple pie just because you can eat it. The law if identity applys here. A is A, and a thing can not be both A and not A at the same time. My challenge was made to make to points, and all but the most obtuse have seen them. Also, if someone did pick up the gauntlet, to raise some money for the MDA. In as much as the reason for charity work is to do good for that charity, that should be reward enough for your noble effort. It is not however acceptance of my challenge. Thank you Mark |

Hi Mark
I hardly ever post here due to all the fighting that goes on, and have no wish to get involved in any myself, I have stayed out of and and will continue too. As I already have a charity event planned I thought my post could help encourage some people to perhaps take you up on your challenge, and perhaps make some money for a charity which you obviously have a feeling for (hence you choosing it over all the other ones). I tried to be helpful and feel I got shot down for it. I am not looking for any reward, it was mentioned to draw some further attention to your post. In the future I shall not bother. David,
No one "shot you down" in any way shape or form. If you feel I did then I am very sorry that you do. If I caused that, then again, I am sorry for that too, that was not my intent. My only motivation was to get the "heat" down a bit, and try and raise some money for the MDA. I too notice that no one other than you took up the challenge. The problem with internet posting is that tone and inflection is missing. What would be passed off as jest or humor, it taken far differently in here. Again, for whatever I have done that injured or hurt your feelings, I am very sorry that happened. Mark Tripp |
