Hi peeps. Looking to find the origin of 2 moves with purses.
1. Who was the first (as far as you know)to hide coins under a purse? 2. Who was the first ( as far as you know) to produce 2 coins from a coin purse, by secretly dropping in 2, and removing them one at a time? Thanks in advance for the information.

As far as hiding coins under a purse,I suspect that purse swindlers were doing it well over a hundred years ago. As you probably know, Morritt and Ramsay got the idea from the swindle and may have been the first to use it for magic purposes. Don’t know that for sure, but it may be a starting point.
With regard to the loading and producing of coins from a coin purse, Harvey Rosenthal did a lot of work in this area. Some of it is published in his Pallbearer’s Review folios. Unfortunately, much of his work went unpublished. |

Thank you. I have a reference to Al Baker hiding a coin under a purse dated 1971, from Pallbearers Review. I am sure there are earlier published references, still looking. As for the second, It is a ruse that I came up with and published, but I am sure there is an earlier reference as it is a logical solution to loading 2 coins into a purse.
