I just became aware of TUC. I see plenty of magic websites offering various denominations of the coins for sale but I can't find info on how many TUC coins I actually need to purchase to perform a basic 4 coin matrix without cards. Are there routines that require more than one TUC coin? Also, is it possible to do a raised hands coins-across with a single TUC? Thanks much!

The book "TUC Appreciation" on lulu has more than 60 effects, several of them 'coins across" type.
No effect requires more than one TUC for execution, though some folks use them for multiple-chain productions. Search the archives here for the threads on the TUC and references to available effects. example: https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......orum=202 I am curious as to why you might think more than one TUC is required? The "triple" version is not necessary either. I don't understand "matrix without cards" as "Matrix" is the name for a coin transportation using cards developed by Al Schneider, now with many variation - but remove the cards and it is not Matrix. Do you mean effects like "Chink-a-Chink or Shadow Coins? As to "raised hands" I guess you mean "not on a table." There are OneFly, TwoFly, 3Fly and multiple Coins Across effects available and none require more than one TUC. My favorite is the "no touch" version where your hands never touch during the triple transportations. That is, no shuffling or re-arranging or reverse actions, just three coins transporting one-at-a-time from one hand to the others at waist level. Thus, just a desire to do a special Coins Across in no reason to purchase a TUC, but wanting an entire new world of possibilities might be. It is an extremely versatile tool/gimmick.

As Funsway says, you can sometimes get more magical things from using multiples, much as you can get more fancy effects from using a turtle + dolphin, two stacking turtles, etc.
But by no means is this necessary, and you can definitely get a lot of mileage from just a single TUC. They combine a lot of features from of other gimmicks all into one package. Highly recommended. |

Thanks for the info. I have no clue what the TUC gimmick is and I know it's inappropriate for me to ask forum members to reveal it. That's why I posted if a person needs more than one. By "Matrix without cards" I meant doing a matrix type routine by just covering the tabled coins with your hands. I'm going to look up Chink-A-Chink Link and Shadow Coins since these appear to be better references than "matrix". I found the LuLu website and ordered the book,'TUC Appreciation" even though I'm yet to know what the TUC gimmick is yet. I will also order today a single TUC from one of the many websites that offer it. If the book has ideas about multiple TUCs I can always pick up another. Thanks again everyone for your feedback.

Just got a TUC a few days ago. I believe you can do a lot of effects, including a matrix as OP has requested, with this cool gadget. I will say that I have not put the thing down since I got it. It is VERY user friendly. I am contemplating getting another simply to expand what can be done in performance two fold. Not required, just I can see where it would be useful.
Only downside is the DVD that came with mine is all in Spanish. I, unfortunately, do not speak Spanish. Hopefully I can just watch the moves and figure them out. |
