Yumi from Japan does something like this. She uses very small silks and a version of the Slydini method.
I don't know about the consistent falling. They just seem to continue to bloom and fall out. But it does make a mess as some do not hit the parasol. Richard

Richard,
Is the Slydini method in Rice's? I was not aware of Yumi of Japan doing something like that. Well, so much for what I thought was a creative idea. Thank you, David W. |

David,
I PM'ed you. Yumi's may not be exactly what you had in mind. She moves back and forth across the stage letting the silks fall to the floor. She does not regather them to do a blendo type of effect. What about cramming them into a prop cannon and then shooting out a large blended silk? Richard

I have no problem letting silks drop on the floor. I do a couple of different fountains. One of which is General Grant’s version. In it the various silks emerge and drop from the eruption of silk handkerchiefs. Each drops to the floor and into a waiting upturned parasol. Not all make it into the parasol. I have about 100 silks in my fountain.
I also use a couple of sewn together fountains for smaller venues. Even those props have a number of silks (different sizes), ribbons, and confetti folded into it such that as it erupts open several silks, ribbons and confetti will spill out and fall away to the floor (again to the awaiting parasol). I take a page from Fantasio and produce a streamer in one silk routine. It is produced and allow to cascade to the floor (no parasol).

I have my silk fountain sewn together. Occasionally, I drop a silk from the silks I steal the fountain into. I simply place my foot beside the silk. I then bend my knee and pick up the silk right by my foot without looking (usually) This tip came from Bob Fitch. Great idea Richard. I have had that problem from time to time. Usually because I have to take a hand away to release the dove. A big down side of dropping silks or any other prop is the monst... er, little darlings, tend to grab at them.
