Can anyone please help me find resources on magic with a spiritual message? I have decided that is what I want to work toward. I don't want to just fool people, I would like to embed messages in my magic. I primarily study card magic, thanks all.

I am not looking for anything Christian in nature, I am more of a Buddhist which I would consider more of a spiritual philosophy, NOT RELIGIOUS PLEASE.

Some kill the messenger for the message. Others kill the messenger for the color of his robes, or the cut of his sandals. Your cup may be too full.
All messages come from somewhere. Looking along the path to that somewhere is called perspective. The communication of metaphor in magic is commonplace. The choice of message and perspective is yours.

A little bit preachy but thank you. So basically I have to find a voice of my own and create metaphors using my own beliefs. Sometimes it helps to have a start somewhere where someone is doing what I want to do. My cup is nowhere near full sir thanks.

You can learn a great deal from artists who have tried to put their own messages into card tricks. Study what they have done, then figure out your own message and effects. My first recommendation would be the work of Eugene Burger, well represented in print and video.

Get a copy of McBrides and Burgers "Mystery School". Study the Works of Punx, Poincs and Borodin. You will have to find your own path but these tomes can point the way.
Remember the best inspiriation for magic is found outside of the discipline.

Kenton Knepper talks about embedding messages in your magic in his Wonder Words series. It is excellent.

I would like to send the message of compasion and love.
the world we live in is at a turning point. 9/11 changed my life and forced me to look at the world we live in, and to study. I feel religion as a whole can divide nations and people hence irac, afghanistan, phillipines, usa, ect. all of us are divided we need to accept each other for our wonderful differences. I do believe in God and God is in each of us that's what I want to share with others. sorry to sound like such a big hippy I'm just being real. thanks everyone. |

Magic is its own message. Why turn it into a "beast of burden" for some other cause?

I concur that Burger is a good source. I recently took in his lecture, and he ended by doing the gypsy broken and restored thread, burning it to pieces over a candle flame and then restoring it, using a patter about the Brachman; Brahma creating reality, Visnu sustaining it, Shiva destroying it in preparation for a new cycle, and Brahma recreating reality anew.

You might try locating a copy of Magic and Meaning by Eugene Burger and Robert Neale. It has a fair amount of material consistent with your goals, and also a fair amount of musing about how to go about creating material like that.
If you have a chance to attend one of his lectures, do that too

If you will get a copy of Once Upon a Time by Punx, you will find quite a bit of material that embraces ideas you are trying to get across. I would, however, recommend paring the length of the stories down a bit and making them a bit more exciting for modern audiences.
