I recently purchased the six-DVD set of Bro. John Hamman performing and explaining his card masterworks. I always pronounced 'Gemini' as ending in a long 'i' sound, as did my magic buds, but he pronounces it as ending in a long 'e' sound (as in 'knee' or 'free'). Phonically, it would be spelled 'jiminee'. Just a little trivia for you.

So we could nickname his move the Cricket Count.

I found that slightly (sleightly?) odd too, Jack. That is to say I was surprised by his pronunciation.

Actually, there is a count titled the Jimminy Cricket Count that Marlo has in Marlo's Magazine Vol 4 (1981) and can be found on pp. 290-291.
Regarding the Gemini Count, it is pronounced (Jem-in-eye) with a long "i" sound. That is the way Hamman pronounced it, that is the way Joe Stevens pronounced his website "Gemini Network" and that is how most cardmen pronounce it. Best, Trini Montes

Maybe on that particular day, Brother John Hamman was lapsing into Ecclesiastical Latin. After the Second Ecumenical Council, the accepted pronunciation of the last syllable is long "I", as in "fly".
