Alan,
How many balls does he produce in his routine? Is there more than one routine taught? What type of balls is he using? Wooden, etc? Lastly, he's presenting this routine as Skilldini? Thanks. Jim PS I have his zombie tape and liked it

I just finished watching the video. I thought it was very good. He performs as skilldini. He gives a rundown on wooden, silicone, and golf balls.
He does mention that silicone is what he uses most. He teaches a good routine also. |

His routine is the most entertaining that I've ever seen!

Tim gives you the basics to start exploring, but gives you a couple of ways to go. It is a very good beginner's video. As far as entertaining, his routine is fine. The most entertaining I've seen is Petrick and Mia's. The Billiard Balls is his forte.
I also like Alan Wakeling's. I do a variation of that routine and love it. The billiard balls is a nice routine that plays big and allows you a lot of variation. If you can, get a hold of Kaufman's book "Balls!" There are a lot of interesting ideas in that book that will stimulate your thinking. The routines in his book are out of the ordinary from routines you will find in other texts.

John Booth's classic book, "Marvels of Mystery" has a great multiplying ball routine with a great kicker finish... I used it for years and it was part of the act when I won the Grand Prix at a PCAM Convention.

I have been watching his DVD for two years (over and over and over) trying to learn the vanish he performs about 42 minutes into the DVD. Does anyone know the name of the vanish or if he or anyone else teach it?
He doesn't teach it on the DVD and it is not named, but he gets this amused look on his face and that is the end of the vanish. Please help this is driving me crazy. |

Being from Toledo Tim has (and had in the past) direct access to the Fakini silicone balls from Frank "Fakini" Radtke and he does use those most of the time, but I have watched him use balls made with various other materials as well. The Skilldini act is very funny and if you ever get a chance to see it live, you must. Tim is a very talented performer and a really nice guy overall, and his teaching is very good.
Two of my absolute favorite billiard ball routines to watch are those by Raymond Crowe and Brett Daniels - very pretty to watch and very entertaining. Another great resource for learning the work behind the multiplying balls - and then some, is the Ultimate Guide To the Billiard Balls by Levent. |

However, to be honest I never liked Tims routine. I know that a lot of you do not agree with me. Maybe I don't like it because of "magicians thinking"? For me the best, most entertaining and inspirational routine was Norbert Ferres performance on Le Grand Plus Cabaret Du Monde, Or I think he first performed it in FISM. |

Jay Leslie has some good things on his ball DVD. He's a member here.
Dave Andrews is also a member here and has some nice things on his YouTube video if you can find it. If you can find The Al Leech Legacy book, there are some nice routines in there. I enjoy rainbow routines, personally, and Al has one or two in the book. Harry Riser's "Feints..." book has a strolling type routine with good ideas. Richard Kaufman's "Sidearm Snookery" has some interesting things as well. Took me a while to find it. I also like Tim's video for several reasons.

I thought that it was only card related stuff that requires just a little bit of sleight of hand.

Maybe it is, I have yet to see it. As far as I know, Jeff has never released a video strictly for the manipulation of billiard balls and the closest you will get is the aforementioned World Class Manipulation. The only other thing from which you might take away some techniques that can be adapted to billiard balls is his Squeak Technique video. That specifically teaches his Bravo routine, which is his take on the Benson Bowl done with sponge balls, with sqeakers added in for fun and comedic effect.
As I mentioned before, look into The Ultimate Guide To the Billiard Balls by Levent - you will get over five hours of study spread across three discs and Levent does an excellent job of teaching and showing you how things work. |
