Hi I saw this effect on penguin magic. I love the three card monte. Is this any good?
Thanks, Steven. |

No. If it's the same one I have, the gimmick is atrocious.

Yes the gimmick is absolutely putrid, but the darn thing works!!! For $15 it is not a bad trick and it does work. Watch the angles, the vict.. uh I mean spectator has to be right in front of you and seated so they cannot look directly down on the dominos. But it still works.
Yes I am amazed that such an atrocious gimmick does work. Peter |

I agree with cfrye. The gimmick is atrocious. In fact, if you really want to see it for yourself, I will sell it to you. I don't think I will ever perform this for anyone, but if I did, it looks like I would have to watch the angles very closely.

The gimmick is kind of silly after you see it for yourself. But, you have to remember the spectators don't know about it. So even though it's screaming at you..
Anyway if you do it at a table, where they are right in front of you (a Café or sit down place comes to mind) should be no problems. |

Since when do dominos have holes?

The problem is that the gimmick is unconvincing for anyone who is not directly in front of you. You can't do the trick with anyone standing even slightly to either side of the gimmicked domino because they'll see the work. Also, if they're not standing the proper distance back from the domino (the exact distance depends on their height), they can also see the work. I'm not interested in a trick that I can only do for one person who has to be looking down at the proper angle to be fooled.

If you're interested in domino monte you should check out Crazy Dominoes by Victor & Marcelo Contento. The dominoes look good and the spectators do not have to watch from any special position. Plus the set comes with routines by Bob Farmer and Kirk Charles. I did buy this a number of years ago so I don't know if they are still available. They were put out by Marcelo Contento Productions out of Watertown, MA.

It is the worst effect I have ever bought. Returned it to the dealer and got a credit note. I cannot believe that any dealer has the nerve to sell this as a magical effect, especially if you read the blurb. What a load of complete rubbish. It's no wonder they were giving it away last weekend for orders over $30 !!! I urge fellow magicians, don't believe the reviews, this is awful .

Penquin will try and sell you anything to make a buck.
I suggest saving your money and purchasing from a local store or at least from an on-line place that does not rip off other magicians ... and in this case their customers as well.

I acquired the dominos from Penguin. They are one of the worst tricks I have every purchased. These in particular are very, very cheaply made, I would never, ever use them.
If you'd like my advice, choose another effect, or find another set. And remember, just because it looks cool on the video, doesn't mean it's like that in real life.(I have to remind myself of this often!) They've set the camera to the perfect angle, practiced several times, and even done multiple takes, which you can't do in real life! Good luck! |

I got it free in an order, let me just say it is pathetic, everyone will grab them during the routine exposing how it is done. It can't really be done for people standing up or crowds.
You know you are a magician when you have boxes full of lecture notes you have never read, but still are excited about going out and buying more.

I got it free when my Uncle placed an order from BirdTown.
I have yet to recieve them, but they will be good for showing a few people here and there. |

Two thumbs down. The angles are tough and item is poorly made. Save you dough.
