Hi everyone...atfirst I was affraid to buy pyro perception because I thought that the gimmick might be some kind of makup or something that would run out...but after getting it and learning that the gimmick last a lifetime and lets me perform as many times as I want...i was very happy....i was wondering of the "Harry Anderson's Deluxe Needle/Screwdriver Through Arm" uses a gimick that can be used an unlimited ammount of times like pyro perception or does it need refills...personally I don't really care to refill fake blood if that's all I need...i'm just wondering if eveything else in the trick needs refill
P.S. PM me for a homemade recipe for fake blood |

You need to get refills, but it is nothing you can't buy easily. I like Andrew Mayne's paperclip thru arm because it fits in my pocket. You are very framiliar with, the "special something". If I used Needle thru arm for shows, and it wouldn't just be sitting in my room, I would have one. It was on my wish list for a long time. The refill isn't expensive, and you can it very easily, and in most stores.

Fake blood is easy to make from items that you find at your local supermarket. The other "necessary" is found at most office supply stores. Actually it is so common that you can find it in some supermarkets too (that is where I bought my last bottle).

Thanks for the reply guys.
is the method used by Andrew Mayne and Harry Anderson the same? |

Yes, they are the same basic effect. The only real difference is that Harry's uses a special needle that provides for the blood.
Andrew's version does away with the blood bit and is simply a straightened paper clip seemingly pushed through the arm. It appears more impromptu (but isn't).

You need to consider how you are going to be using this effect. I have the needle through arm and it really just sits in my collection of stuff I don't use. This is due to the fact that the needle is made for stage or parlour performances. If you do stage work go for it, if not stick with pyro and other easy to set up street effects.

A substitute for needle thru arm done on the streets is like they said, a paperclip.
You can also use the following.. -straightened safety pin -needle with thread(like you're sewing your arm) -the ink tube of a pen |

I also have Harry Needle through Arm. I have not performed it regularly...only about 40 times. I stopped because it's too gory for most audiences and younger children should never see this. I have noticed that the needle has weakend since I first got it. I take really good care of it but once it starts to bend in that critical area, it will eventually break. I might be able to get 10 or so more performances out of mine. Maybe it's my technique, but I don't think the needles will last for 1000's of performances. There is a weak spot and anyone that owns one, knows what I'm talking about.

If the needle is weakening it probably needs to be lubricated to reduce the strain placed on it.

I suggest you experiment on other objects so it will appear to be impromptu.. don't you think?
