Are there any books on wedding magic? I'm looking for ways to sell a wedding magician. What are the benefits of having a magician at the reception or rehearsal dinner?

You can hit the bridal shows or do what I have done in the past and crash a few. By being at a bridal show you will be able to hit the brides, and they are the ones that usely make the decisions. I know my wife did. You do a few five minute routines in the booth and have a sales pitch. Paula is right enterrainment, but you have to have more then that. I tell the people I can help with child control before the meal starts and help with the older folkes that can not get up and move around. You have to remember there is not a lot of stuff to do at a reception. You do have dancing and eating but people love to take breaks, and that is where you come in. Sell yourself and your magic, and why they need you, and you will successed.

I like your ideas about "help with the older folks" and "help with child control". There has to be a BENEFIT to the bride or she will not book the entertainment. Most brides in my area have never heard of a magician or other entertainment at weddings besides your usual band/dj.
Here are more benefits that I've gathered: 1. Fill the down time when the guests are waiting for the wedding party to arrive at the reception after pictures. Benefit: The guests forget they are waiting and are entertained. 2. Entertain the kids at the reception. Benefit: keep the kids from disrupting the party or begging their parents to leave. 3. Entertain the guests at the rehearsal dinner. Benefit: Guests have fun and entertainment may spark conversation between guests who are seated with other guests they don't know. Any other scenarios and BENEFITS? 3. |
