I think in this forum there are the specialists for authentic looking props. I would like to tell you that I just finished the prototyping of really old looking playing cards that would be suitable for all kind of ren fair card magic. Is it possible to give me some input which gaffed cards you are seeking so that I could include them when creating the gaffed cards?
Just as a reference and for images of the deck, I started a thread in Gaffed & Funky: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......03&5 Thank you.

When will you have them in stock and what will they cost? The cards are just what I am looking for!

I finished the creation of the "regular" deck. The same with the cards for Gypsy Curse (they will come with an old looking golden coin and the routine from Tonny van Rhee), and the other trick cards you could see. I am not sure if I really will do the Pip Matrix as it is too obvious that these are trick cards. So I still have 4 up to 6 cards where YOU ALL can decide or bring ideas what I should include.
And when these last trick cards are done I can start the print. The development of the optional leather case is still in progress, perhaps in the end it will something completely different as this is really in creation state. The wooden card box already exists, I can buy it here. I think a reasonable time scale will be in the beginning of the third quarter 2007. The prices are not fixed until now. I have to consider that the cards should not be too expensive but the price range will be somewhere of the prices of marked decks. I will produce them only in a smaller quantity and will sign every pack.

I mentioned this in the other post that you linked here. I think I should post it here, too, though.
If you are going to use these at Renaissance festivals, they should not look battered and worn. These would have been contemporaneous cards, so they would have a fresher appearance than something that was supposed to be 200 years old. Also, be careful of any dyes in the leather. They may come off on the cards.

MiNiM (Bill),
Back to your earlier post, there is every reason in the world for doing tricks with real eggs at ren faires. However, there are also methods for repeating the tricks as walk-around because they can reset. Research the Walk-Around Silk to Egg and see how your life has been made easier! I think it's silly not to do rope tricks at a faire... ropes are all over the place!!!
plus, ropes look great rolled up hanging from your belt (or... can be your belt, in some circumstances), and a dagger for which to cut makes perfect since as well! If you perform up against a backdrop... you could do monarch monte with stiff cardboard, or wood. either do, or don't use the card motife.

No reason not to use scissors, if you get some that look medieval. They existed back then.
BTW, Card Shark's Gypsy Deck is perfect for the Renaissance Faire work. They also handle better than those really awful cards that have been around for so long.

Additionally, sliding the blade in and out of a belt scabbard allows for nice Steals.
