What do you think is the best card routine to win a championship of card magic????

One that is original, displays a high degree of technical skill, has a high number of effects per minute, has a baffling climax and is performed competently.
Should I beat Mattisdx and recommend studying Lennart Green's stuff? I don't recommend taking his material directly but he has done well in previous competitions. Also, you can learn from his mistakes. Don't fool the judges so badly that they think you are using trick cards. You want them to attribute the skill to you, not the cards. Dave |

Originality is the key. It has to be ground breaking and unexpected.

Yes rannie, I think that originality is the key too.

A card routine that has acrobatics is worth the shot. Do a high impact routine with a finish with cards flying out with a unique revelation.,,
Or create your own presentation. I agree with Rannie, originality is the key. You too must know what you are doing. Some people perform just to amaze people and not knowing what they're doing. You too must know how to handle yourself and an audience at the spur of the moment. |

Although you are unlikely to win with a bunch of self workers, you need to balance out the technical aspects with the presentation. Just doing a set of knuckle busters won't get you anything if you just stand there. Make sure you have a good range, and put something new into it. You can use old effects, but give them new presentations, that always wins points with judges!

I think one should also be aware of the politics that goes on on SOME competition. I am not generalizing , but I know it exists. Just my observation. I have seen it happen. Things like home town decisions and all.
