What information are you seeking? It's a hardcover book, 408 pages, published in 1997 as a signed, limited edition of 500 copies. Many of the pictures are in color.
It covers early paintings from the 1500's, political cartoons, lithographs and posters, and illustrators of books, magazines and catalogs. Some of the notable names profiled are Harlan Tarbell, Sid Lorraine, Nelson Hahne, Francis B. Martineau, Francis Rigney, Richard Kaufman, Joseph K. Schmidt, Earle Oakes, Ton Onosaka, Tom Gagnon, Tom Jorgenson, Kelly Lyles, Sandra Kort, Pat Patterson Lyons, Ed Mishell, Tom Lawless, Mickey O'Malley, Paul Butler, Eugene Poinc, Tony Dunn, Ed Harris, Alan Wassilak, Steranko, Eric Lewis, Ted Salter, Robert E. Olson, and Jim Steinmeyer. You may have a hard time finding a copy for sale these days. |

WOW that sounds great , I would love to see that book.
My wife is an artist and has created some great magic art just for me and I would love to see what others have created...besides illustrations for books. |

I have been informed that the book is still available from H & R Magic Books, which is my favorite book seller and gets my highest recommendation.
As a kid I loved reading magic catalogs and looking at the illustrations. And I thought that the three volumes of Rice's Encyclopedia of Silk Magic, illustrated by Francis B. Martineau, were incredible. It's great to now be able to read about these artists. I'm very glad to have a copy of this book. |
