Well, I just got back from 5 days in Canada at Steve Santini's Escape Conference. I'd like to say that it was one of the most enjoyable weekends of my entire life. First off, Steve was the most gracious host and opened up his home to us, invited us to meet his wonderful family and just made us all feel really welcome and comfortable, like we were family ourselves. I know I was really comfortable because at one point I stripped down to my underwear in a room full of perfect strangers, but more on that another time. We had a great group, no egos or BS, and it was nice and small so everyone got a lot of personal attention. I feel like I learned more this weekend than I did in the past 7 years. It really would be impossible to review everything we did in this post and still have it readable, so I'll just post some of the highlights. So in no particular order some of my favorite moments were:
Finally meeting Steve Santini and his family Finally meeting Cindini and getting to watch her in action Meeting lots of new people and making some really great new friends Seeing live, what a first class job Steve did on the Escaporium and his extensive restraint and memorabilia collection up close Seeing how beautiful the Canadian countryside is Escaping from a sub trunk for the first time Escaping from a safe at the secret midnight training session Performing on the Escaporium stage at the Saturday evening show and debuting my new handcuff escape that Steve helped me to create. Meeting the mayor of the town and being treated like a visiting dignitary Having dinner and performing magic at the haunted mansion Climbing on the rocks at the waterfall Escaping from a pair of Bean Giant cuffs that were once actually owned by Houdini Escaping from a milk can for the first time Trying Canadian Pizza for first (and last) time (only kidding, it was actually pretty good) Taking pictures in Steve's attic with lots of fun toys to play with Escaping from New York for a few days Traveling to the site of Steve's underwater coffin escape, one of his suspended SJ escapes and the Santini tribute at the Maritime museum Singing karaoke in Steve's living room, seeing him do Elvis and Neil Diamond and doing my bad Billy Joel impression Making Balloon animals for Steve's friends and family Talking on the phone with Shawn Ness Learning how to end every sentence with...."Eh!!" Receiving my Escape Conference welcome package including the great embroidered T shirt, letter from the mayor, and all the other great stuff Seeing Steve perform two of his latest creations for his new maximum danger escape show Sitting around, telling stories, and joking about movies and old TV shows This list could go on and on but this post is already too long. I'll be posting some pictures shortly and I'm sure Cindy will also, whenever her train gets back to Florida. I highly recommend this conference to anyone for next year and in the meantime would highly suggest a visit to the Escaporium. You'll have a great time. I learned a ton of stuff and had the best time doing it. Thanks for the great weekend Steve!!! Best regards, Tony Parisi |

I wish didn't have to know what I missed, but circumstances were against the trip.
There is no doubt in my mind that spending even an hour or two with Steve in person would put all of the other escapology info and learning from other sources the last couple of years to shame. Bummed out now.....
...think not that all wisdom is in your school. You may have studied other paths, but, it is important to remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, there is always more to learn.

I told Steve, I had wished I had a crystal ball that would have told me my surgery would have gone as well as it did. Had I knowen that I would have gone.
I know about "Doug being there" and am interested in seeing the final result if it was taped. I had a great time for the 3 days I was there in June but it looks you you guys had a blast as well. Sorry to Cindini who went out of her way to call me twice and in the end was the only person I ended up not being able to talk to. X

Greetings!
I finally made it back on the Amtrak "torture train" Well, Tony summed it up really well but I'd like to add a couple words to his description. (1) Awesome! (2) Brilliant! (3) We needed 2 more weeks to absorb more of Santini's priceless concepts! Looking forward to the next meeting there and as the EA conference gang would say while mimicking Arnold ..."I'll be back" (Believe me, they never stopped lol) Hugs, Cindi |

Hehehe... you don't know just how much of a major 'rush' it was getting out of that cell... my morning coffee was calling and by the time I got out, the first thing I did was find the men's room! Sad but true...

Hey Doug, I think I finally figured out how you were at Escape Con 2004. Were you the voice of the great Houdini?
Best regards, Tony Parisi |

Moi?
Oh wait...I don't utter French...your name threw me...uh...me? Houdini? Never heard of him...I was out of town at the time...my dog ate the script...due to the intrinsic nature of the information there are no refunds...batteries not included, some assembly required, your mom and dad help you put it together, some pieces sold seperately, allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery, your results may vary... :)
