ANDREW Thank you. I shall try.. Do you know what means of payment they will accept? It's frustrating living in the UK at times as most of The Great Masters.one seeks info about came from the USA. You're almost on the doorstep!
Yes Moi Yo Miller real name was Loretta Miller. Bill Dante dated her in Brisbane, Australia where she was appearing in a show. After Bill's untimely death Dante asked her to join the show. She was billed as Australia's Most Beautiful Woman. This was certainly NOT due to makeup. When I met her at IBM, Southport, England in 1993, I could not believe that she was 79/80. Almost nose to nose I'd have said 4o maximum. A most gracious lady. She was late arriving for autographs and Jeff Atkins tried to get her away after some 25mins. She looked at him and said, imperiously BUT graciously, "These good people have waited a long time to meet me. I will not let them down just to go to a cocktail reception". Mr. Atkins had to leave and I, tears in my eyes, touched hands with a legend. She signed the Dante contract on 4th. may 1934, at 4 pounds (Australian currency) per week. Dante had to post her fare home with the authorities and really became her guardian as she was so young. She changed the face of the Dante Show, gradually eliminating most of the old fashioned costumes and became the most famous illusionist's assistant, in her case, partner, of that time.Check out Stan Allen's Magic mag in 2004 and see how a living legend looks at 90 years of age. Dell O'Dell and her husband Charles Carrier where great photo buffs. Charles took many movies and photos. They actually had a small house trailer with a darkroom set up in it.

Allen sent me pics of his Dante re-creation. They look marvelous and he DOES look like "the great one." Thanks again, Allen.
Allen - Yes, Moi-Yo is a sweetheart. I once spent an afternoon playing Gin Rummy with her at a PCAM convention, years ago. She was glad to find someone who also liked the game and we had a great one-on-one session talking about her years in magic. She told me a couple of years ago, before she moved back to Australia, that she has all of the letters she wrote to her mother every week while on the road with Dante. I told her she should use them as the basis for a book. Hopefully she or her daughter will do it. There's nothing like reading "history" as it happened - not written 50 years after the fact. A Haunting We Will Go. When you watch Dante about to 'vanish' the assistant, notice how his arm seems to get caught in the threads/sheet. Usually in the TV version and the published videao, if you watch carefully you'll see the 'form' hit the floor, bottom left, of the picture, and lie there. Even a Great One gets hiccups but how he covers it. Oh boy!

A-Haunting We Will Go is available on DVD as part of a 3-DVD Laurel and Hardy set. It is unfortunately not a great movie, but it's interesting just for the teaming of Stan and Ollie with Dante. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is the Asrah illusion in the movie is not Dante's; it was originally used in a Charlie Chan, then hauled out again for this film.
Val Andrews' Dante recording is now available as an MP3 from Lybrary and Dante's Mysteries is on DVD through Trick Photography. I will have to get mitts on both of those! Joe Libby San Antonio, TX

I have the DVD of Dante's Mysteries and recommend this piece of magic history. It's a wild movie! If you only know Dante from "A-Haunting We Will Go," this movie will be a revelation.
