Other than just angles, is there any way to make TTs less noticeable at closer distances?

Act natural. Point the end of the tip at the audience sometimes. The only thing you should not do is give the "thumbs up" sign. Otherwise, just act natural and they won't see it.

I naturally use a lot of body language when I speak. So for me moving my hands around seems natural. The more motion your hands are in, the less chance you will have getting exposed. On a side note, even when I first started out, I have never been caught. Not because I'm a wonderful magician or anything, but because I took the time to find the perfect TT, that matches me, and wear it often so it becomes conformed to my T.

Wear it every day reminds me of a story... Long ago I got a sixth finger so I decided to wear it around.
I was walking to school with it on and a kid ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET yelled over to me, he said, "Pete, what's wrong with your hand?" ARgh...

He meant the one with only five fingers. (actually four and a thumb) Paula
