The very first magic shop I ever visited. Man,did it ever leave a lasting impression on me. Located on Superior Ave. in downtown Cleveland. It was small, kind of dirty, but tons of magic. Not to mention some of the best magic demonstrators in the business. Mike Bodin and Nick Varga stood behind the counters, demonstrating tricks, and answering annoying questions, from a novice 12 year-old (your's truly). These fellas had the patience of Job. No kidding. They steered me in the right direction, though. In fact, I remember what the sold me,then. I still use them today. Glorpy the gerkulating silk, and the dime and penney trick. It's amazing to me that after 30yrs, these guys knew what they were talking about, when they said"once you master these tricks, you'll do 'em forever" How right they were. So Mike, Nick, if you guys are reading this, an annoying 12 year old, just wants to say "Thanks"

If you haven't heard, Rev. Florian Manas, past owner of The Castle of Magic, passed away last week at the age of 83.
Although the business closed down many years ago and the building was razed to make room for downtown Cleveland parking, Flor was still perfoming until last year when he became sick. Those of us who knew him lost a great friend and one who served Jesus Christ faithfully right up unto the end. Terry

I know this post is old, but I don't remember this shop...can anyone give more details? I remember Snyders and a small shop that sold magic and practical jokes in one of Cleveland's arcades. I remember that shop also had a "back room" that contained more "adult" material...not really magic related. Never saw it...just heard about it. Anyway, I digress. Where exactly was The Castle of Magic, and how could I have possibly missed it?
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
