Hi guys, I am thinking of releasing my own DVD soon. My target market are lay people, cos I really have a huge passion to introduce magic to people.
My question is, how do I have to go about the crediting bit? Do I have to personally contact the creator of the trick, or I can just mention their names in my DVD? Can anyone please give me more details about this topic. Thank you guys.. |

IMHO, you have a moral responsibility to contact those people whose moves you're using, and ask for their permission. You'll find that most are really cool about giving you their okay.
Notice I said "moral." While you may also have a legal responsibility, that's largely a moot point, because I have yet to hear of a recent case of a magician who's sued to preserve his rights to a move or trick. (Jeff Busby notwithstanding.) Of course, if the magician has died, you could always hold a seance to obtain permission...which would make several who post here very happy.
Cheers,
