After seeing that he has released the secrets to his "Laser Deal" routine, I wonder the overall difficulty of the move. Has anyone tackled the sleight? Please give opinions. Thanks.

looks pretty hard to me. I don't have the snap deal booklet but it looks to me like he flicks the cards into lateral palm as he's dealing them. That can't be easy.
Worth learning tho. |

The move itself isn't exceptionally difficult, but the timing is. Its not a move that you can do whilst misdirecting - its a move that invites people to burn your hands. That makes it crazily difficult.
However, the instructions are well written and illustrated and you'll have great fun getting it down. --Andi

You have to get the snap deal notes. You'll find it is very easy to learn. I was able to do it pretty good after a day or two of practicing.

The move is not terribly hard. With only one card it is almost easy.
I think the better application for the move is as a control (although it is fun to see how many card you can make disappear with the contious Laser Deal). It can be VERY convincing in the right context. I use it in a fun clip on my site: http://www.cip.physik.uni-muenchen.de/~behrd/ (Clip "How to lose the top card in the middle of the deck") Greetings, Denis |

I saw him use the snap deal in a conference where he turned the black cards into reds when they touched the table. He was "palming" the black cards when they appear, but the illusion was perfect (at least in his hands ).

I watched him do it from behind and it looks so effortless when he does it. Right! With one card it's easy. I think it's just a matter of practice. They just go right into lateral palm. That's right.

Denis, I watched the clip... but I don't get what the magic of it is? It just looks like you put the top card in the middle of the deck. Is there supposed to be a trick in that?

There is no magic at all in this clip. As I said, it's a fun clip. You do a lot of (unnecessary) sleights and the card ends up where it is supposed to be...
Just call it an "etude" or something like that. Yet it is funny that some people who watched the clip didn't see anything unusual at all ("Hey, you put the card in the center and there it is. Great.") and I take this as a compliment... Greetings, Denis |

I looked at Denis' site, some nice sleights demonstrated. I was very intrigued by the "Eidetic Change". What the hell is that all about?
|

Thanks . Marlo's Eidetic Change can be found in "The Legendary Kabbala" (and also in Daryl's Sleight Encyclopedia (vol.8 I think)). (Multiple Eidetic in "Gaffed to the Hilt!" or "Card Finesse".)
Its use is limited since you need a table and should sit (hey, any idea about the method giving those restrictions?!) but if the circumstances are right it is a very effective colour change. |

Anyone know where the "snap deal" booklet is available?

You can get the booklet through A-1 Magicalmedia....ten bucks.
