Hello, I'm 27 and I have done some street performing about 7 years ago. I mainly have been doing stage work for about 3 years now. I have never worked at a restaurant, a school show, or a fair. I don't have my name out that much in the market either. I need some advice on where to start and how to go about it. I do a lot of stage and close-up magic. I do dwell in the bizarre and mentalism sides to. Should I try and set up a big event say at a car dealership where a lot of people will gather or some other way. I need to get my name and style of magic out into this market. I have been studying magic since I was 5. I put on my first show when I was 7 and it took off from there. I do have a whole collection of nothing but gimmicked tricks, but I have almost just as much that relies on nothing but other peoples items. I recently lost my job due to layoffs and have no choice but to try and become the full time magician I should have always been. I have a wife and 2 children to provide for. More than likely it would take at least 6 months to land a well paying regular job here. I know of people with degrees here that didn't get a job for almost 15 months. Please help if you can. I would purchase Jim Snack's course, but I don't have the money right now. I was also considering getting a grant from the government on performing or opening a shop here. I have owned my own business before, but I don't no where to get this info either. Thanks.

Jim is a very great and generous man and I am sure he could give you some great tips. If you are looking into the festival market, please PM me as I have a wealth of information on that market that I could help you with.

Thanks to the both of you as Jim actually contacted me first. I am going to restaurants tomorrow and hopefully something will work out. And no, I never forget who has helped me along the way. I always pay my dues to the ones who have helped. I also help others here on the Café just like others have done for me. Thanks.
