I just found out that "Kolossal Killer III" is in Larry Becker's video "Mental Masterpieces" vol. 1.
Does anybody know what the improvements are? Thanking you, Gerard |

There are no improvements as I saw it. It is just a different presentation for the effect.
It is similar to Greg Arce's SCORCHED.

With all due respect, Catoe's response might be misleading. If I remember correctly, Mr. Becker uses a H***** wallet and a specific script that steers the spectator’s choice just a bit. The result is actually quite nice in that it eliminates the likelihood -- however remote -- that a spectator will come up with a plausible explanation. What you lose, of course, because it is a H***** wallet, is the spontaneity of the original Kolossal Killer, assuming that you are the type to carry the effect with you all the time in your everyday wallet. Someone should correct me if I’m wrong because I haven’t seen the tape lately, but this is how I remember it.

And although I haven't seen this new handling, let me explain that I got my original idea of burning cards by seeing Larry do his presentatin of KK. In his presentation he had the person burn cards and used flash paper to enhance the idea of the burning. The thing I didn't like about KK was that you had all those outs in a wallet or envelope and the idea of that little extra thing written on the back in case they hit off by one.
That set me on the path that led to Scorch. Greg

I've put it in a couple of threads.
Here is one: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=82 Mind you, in my ebook, Deep Thought, I have some extra handling I've recently come up with that came up with a new effect called Floater... also an equivoque effect. Greg

When I say Larry's routine has no improvements as I saw it, I meant just that. For every gain there is a loss. There are some performers that can convincingly perform the original but do not have the capabilities to perform Larry's version of it.
Simplicity is THE advantage to the original routine. There is no extraneous story needing to be told. Think of it like the invisible deck. "In this deck I have reversed ONE card. Which one do you think it is?" There are other presentations that are available to perform the invisible deck just as there are to KK. Some are very good, some are just different, and others have even taken a steop behind. But very few have improved such a simple idea as "I have one card in my wallet..." Just my thoughts. Samuel
