Hi, Since my last post on book care I have begun protecting my dust-jacketed books with Brodart covers. My new question is, what about books with no dust jacket? How do you deal with those books? I would like to protect some of my older titles, antique books, etc that have no cover.
Thanks for any suggestions! |

I would use the same thing, but use the ones without the paper attached. They sell it that way. They also sell it in rolls so you can cut it to size. With so many various sizes and shapes, this is a real help. I would get the heavy guage then the thin material.
Now if you really want to get anal over the books, you can cut out a strip to lay on top of the pages while the book is closed and on the shelf. Good Luck, Kevin

Hi Kevin, thanks for the suggestion. One question, though-do you mean, cover the book just with the plastic cover, or add a piece of acid free paper between the cover and book?
As for covering the books while on the shelf, I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I imagine I will! Patrick |

Patrick,
Just the plastic cover is fine. As long as the plastic is not made with PVC, you'll be ok. I'm sure they make it without it. I'm sure you will. Don't forget to vacum the books too! You'll be Felix Unger no time! Kevin
