It occured to me that the amount of magicians who perform umbrella magic, seems to have stayed constnat over the years...In other words, seemingly proving that Umbrellas in buildings may not be so bad for the luck as some lay people may think! Take for instance Fukai and Kimika, in their act they must produce at least 50 umbrella's...and they seem to survive each performance not only passibly...but excelently, leaving the audience baffled as to where the umbrellas come from! If anything they have given them good luck.
Any other magicians who beat superstitions? Owen |

Chance Wolf has bucked that trend as well with his Shattered amd Jumbo Shattered effects.
Breaking mirrors appears not to be the slightest bit unlucky for Mr. Wolf

I always thought superstitions were to stop thick people from hurting themselves and others.
If a thick person can't be reasoned with then frighten them with a superstition. Why is is bad to open an umbrella indoors? If you have just come in from the rain and open an umbrella you will shower all in range with cold wet rain. If you are indoors with dry UMB... In the good old days with gas lighting, it would have been a fire hazzard to pop your brolly near a source of flame. Thick people would not obey this convention and must be dealt with accordingly. Walking under a ladder...Is not only a stupid thing too do, but puts the person up the ladder in danger as well as any passers by. Black cats associated with witches. Witches were burned and drowned. Better to avoid black cats (the practise of witch dunking/burning has stopped so don't worry) or you may get a good pyre for your troubles.
