If I were to sell a video of my magic show to the public, how do I get them to buy the originals? Any suggestions?

If they are YOUR videos where would the unoriginals come from?

Macromedia is what the big fish use. Very expensive I hear. Don't know how much myself. Going through a production company for the copies might be much cheaper.
...think not that all wisdom is in your school. You may have studied other paths, but, it is important to remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, there is always more to learn.

In general, if your video is successful enough to interest the pirates, you would already have made enough money from it to make it worthwhile.
If people are pirating your video of your magic show to sell to the general public, then you are a big success, and can consider yourself a famous magician. The television networks would be the next step. |

whithaydn is right on. I'd almost be pleased by some free publicity amongst people that don't by magic videos

Hello.. And Please correct me if I'm wrong...
But I spent some time in Asia.. (Japan, China & Korea) There are video "Clubs" Rental stores that will buy an original copy of a video "on DVD or laser Disc", then Burn pirated copies on to VHS tapes... selling for $10ish bucks... I myself, while living there have Purchased "remakes of popular movies/videos". In Asia the copyright laws are not enforced as well as other countries.. Is this what you are worried about limhanchung? Blake Blair

Yes
That's what I am worried about. How to overcome this problem? Should I direct my magic towards a more international market? |

Well, this is a tough one.... Because once you publish your video to market, it's free range with it.. When a Video Club gets it, they can do almost anything with it...And it's a little too hard to go and sue every video club out there...
I guess you just have to roll with the punches.. Good luck bb

Nothing much you can do, illegal copies of Star Wars or the Lord of the Rings, are around (I'm sure you know that) so if the big companies can't avoid it, I don't see how you could avoid it yourself...
People will only be intereseted if you're successful anyway so you should be OK
