I was watching an lecture video of Rocco talking on the topic of sleeving various items and wanted to ask a question. He sleeves cigarette's throughout the lecture, and when someone asks if he has any material sewn in his sleeves to prevent them from burning. He replies with some joke about never checking what they do to his sleeves. What do you guys/girls reakon could be used as a lining in sleeves to prevent them from burning? I've done this quite a bit when I'm put on the spot to perform some magic. It gets the most incredible response, especially if done really smoothly. There is no problem with the cigarette burning your arm, it has never burnt me before because it rests in the sleeve. But it does damage the inside lining of the jacket, particularly my school blazer (Mum wasn't too happy when she found out) Does anyone have any ideas of a fire proof material. Thanks in advance.

I'v asked Finn Jon about that very same thing, and he uses a large (sewed in) leather pocket to prevent the cig. from burning his arm/jacket.

I'm partial to those fake, plastic cigs that really puff "smoke"! I'm actually a bit surprised how many people I have fooled with those.
Also great for faking your way through a "Human Ashtray" act! |

There is a vanish where you ditch the lit cig in your outer coat pocket, To mulica suggests putting foil in your pocket I guess the same could be done up your sleeve.but if you did a quick vanish with large sleaves and then quickly reproduced it I doubt that your clother would catch on fire- mind you I still wouldn't try it.

I have to agree with Reis. Those Puff Cigaretts are great for sleeving. They have great shock value when smoking one in a non smoking establishment. I wait for some one to stare or to object. I put it out in my ear, etc and then vanish it, or just put it in my pocket and smile.

Foil would work, just cut a sheet the width and length of your sleeve and fasten it using a safety clip further up the sleeve.

Look in the Encyclopedia of Cigarette Tricks. It's in there among lots of other great info about cigs.
