I have both these effects. In my opinion they are not as bad as made out to be on here. However we each have our own tastes.
Also just because something is not examinable, it doesn't mean it is a bad trick. Just look at an invisible deck, Cardtoon or a Svengali deck - to name but a few. These are not examinable but great effects.

Sprucing up the Blue Crystal as suggested is a pretty good idea. Huge kudos to Adolphus for coming up with a great routine for it!

Here is a thread I started regarding the Blue Crystal effect. I find it very visual.
Someone in my thread had also mentioned Dr. Hiroshi Sawa. Apparently he has a book out full of ideas around the Blue Crystal. Unfortunately it is in Japanese. Are there any copies in English? Or is there any way to convince Dr. Sawa to put it out in English as well? I would be very interested. I am going to check out the routine in Genii. What is it about?
Yours,

I strongly agree that Anti-Gravity rock is a throw away, but found The Blue Crystal fascinating. Many Tenyo effects are items that you show people how neat the method is as opposed to performing. I actually have never seen anyone( outside a magic shop demo )perform any Tenyo effects. I recently had issued a list of new & used magic, the items that generated the most intereat and sales were Tenyo. There are many who collect them, myself included who will never perform them. These are some very ingenius little "plastic" toys that many are intriqued with and enjoy the mechanics of the effect.Unfortunately they make duds like every other manufacture , but most are very good with the exception of being made out of plastic. One of my favorites by the way is Eye of The Idol.

The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

The antigravity rock is a bit cheesy.A bit mechanical and not very impressive-Sorry Tenyo.
Blue Crystal on the other hand..... |

Both of the items are toy magic.. Why would you do toy magic when youre doing close-up? Just get a mirror and a deck of cards, or any other desired item(s), some useful closeup book and start training yourself. My opinion, do not waste your and the spectators time with selfworking children illusion. =)

I actually use to work for Tenyo and have performed with many of their effects.
Most of you have already said everything about Blue Crystal, so I will tell you more about the Anti Gravity Rock. If you haven't seen the effect performed properly then please don't make negative comments. I use to perform this daily and have always had really good reactions. Most have mentioned that that rock is plastic, and you need this ring so you cannot see under it. The best thing about this though is that after the rock slowly lifts off the surface you can move around the plate beneath it, so it dispels any thoughts that something is holding it up. Also the ring is used to show that no threads are present etc... Like we always say it's all presentation. The other neat thing about it is the Clear doll that comes with it, I don't think anyone has mentioned it. It's like a scaled down version of like a stage levitation, this one I think is even better than the rock. And you don't have to use the ring for it. Again you can move the plate underneath to show nothing is attached. The greatest innovation in this routine is the plate. I've never seen anything like it. If you enjoy Tenyo for their contraptions then I think you will like this. Simon |

I Think blue crystal is very visual and great effect but I just don´t like to use it. It´s like showing someone how cool toy you got. What is the effect of antigravity rock?

I use two tricks from Tenyo when I want to do some great magic:
Squezze Play and Mystery Triangle: great effects that they can examine, close. I have seen Blue Crystal and it looked like a cool illusion. It may be my next Tenyo prop. |

I have both blue crystal and anti-gravity rock. I see them (actually most of Tenyo product) as prototype rather than a real gimmick.
You got the idea and then you can build/modified the idea into your own product. Although both are "useless" in real performance (too small and too toy-look), they are clever products that worth every cents. |

The gimmick of my anti gravity rock now is stucked. I wish blue crystal coming with locking feature.

I now keep blue crystal mostly at home, but when at home I will sometimes take it out and perform it by placing a ring on the surface. It's so visually appealing, I love it!
