Hey all,
After about 20 yrs, I'm finally getting back into escapes and have this planned for a closer of a show on Dec. 4th. Ankles are handcuffed, 15 feet of chain wraps upperbody and arms, locked with masterlock (Warded type), wrists (Houdini shackle ecsape), same lock type, then into the mailbag I go, locked in. Years ago when I was into escapes it was rope and chains, no trick locks, no picks (even though now I do locksmithing). Being of small frame type and very limber for my age I can bend abit. I came up with a upperbody wrap with chain that looks and feels very secure, but it will actually "Fall" off when do right. The "Wrap" maybe used by others...that I do not know..I was at work and thought it up and practiced with a friend for the show. If speed is a factor, I can shackle and chain free in under 20 seconds, then it's just the bag...maybe with a costume change, that I'm not sure of yet but have a comedy idea workin. Just wanted to drop a line....excited...had to tell someone lol. Magically, Joseph |

He's got to come out as Santa - it's in the small print - otherwise known as the Santa Clause!

Come out in a dress and tell everyone you are Merry(Mary) Christmas. Jokes. I think it is a great idea.

There is a Santa coming out after the show (almost 80 kids 10 and under), I was kicking this around, You know those funky looking Christmas pajamas, the kind that you hope you never get? Get a pair like jogging pants; I also do clowning at functions and nursing homes, I was thinking about coming out with the pj's, my raggedy andy wig and some quick simple face paint.
I figure that if it can be pulled off in under two minutes, that it would work. One problem maybe. Everything is inspectable, wig will be tough to hide on body during show, so my helpers will ignore it in bag. If you have any other ideas on getting the wig to the bag or body I'd love to hear. Thanks again for the great replys. Magically, Joseph |

Do a change that has a big bag which supposedly has presents in it. Come out pretending to be Santa and have the "Real Santa" come in and prove you to be a fake santa and in a playful way booting you off and hand out pressies, or sweets, etc. Just an idea.

Great Idea Wolf! Joseph, another way to go might be to prepare a round canvas patch the same size as the bottom of the mail bag that you can place inside the bottom creating a false bottom. As the Raggedy Andy wig is very soft and compressable, you shouldn't have much trouble hiding it under the false bottom. Most spectators will just take a quick look in the sack anyway, especially if you hand them something else to examine as a distraction. They will most likely be more interested in your shackles and padlocks anyway. Best of luck with the escape, and just for the record I do some clowning myself at public events, private parties and children's wards at local hospitals
Best regards, Tony Parisi |
