Has anyone seen the Gentleman's Time Machine as advertised at Penguin Magic?
I love the original Time Machine effect but have been disappointed with the quality of the watches, I think they look quite cheap and considered asking a watchmaker to attempt making me a one off, using a more expensive and quality looking watch. Will this new Time Machine satisfy my requirements? Any thoughts welcome. Coops |

Saw one in person. Looks like a very very expensive watch.

I think the Masters Time Machine is the best.

I've been showing people the Black Time Machine. In my opinion it looks better than the others, it incorporates an internal improvement, and seems to be a healthy step away from the original Bazar version. It keeps good time and has a thingy of 12x7 secs.

I have the masters and I thought that it didn't look real enough but I used it any way and no one was the wiser .but just this past weekend I saw a friend with almost the same identical watch and it gave me a reassuring feeling..i like it , just trying to find a better patter for it.

I consider buying a time machine. Is anyone using it and are you happy with it ? I 'm afraid that the watch won't work very long... I mean only a month guarantee...

There is a new lifetime guarantee on Magic Makers watches. Whatever your opinions about the company, I welcome any steps like this as an effort to make improvements.
If you like the effect and the idea of using a gimmick, I would go for it. As far as the look of the watches goes, choose one people won't think is totally unfashionable and wear it for weeks before you perform. This depends so much on where you live and who you are that nobody's advice is going to help in that respect. Chris |

Hi,
Can you please advise where can I buy Gentleman's Time Machine or master time machine as this is sold out everywhere. Thanks, Marcin |

I'm going to go against the grain here and advise you NOT to get one. I'm not familiar with the Gentleman's Time Machine, but I do have one that is pretty much the exact same except it has a black band.
I say not to get one because for the price ($200.00)... you could get way more for your money and be performing practically the same effect. Banachek's Psychokinetic Time paved the road for modern watch effects. You should really check out his material. Moreover still, it uses the spectators watch. Also, you should look into Looch's material. His DVD set is absolutely incredible. I'm always raving about it. He has a watch routine on the DVD that is so beautiful and simple in application. It too uses a spectators watch and is practically the same effect that you would be buying the 200.00 watch for, plus you would be getting so much more material on the DVD set for a fraction of the cost. I believe this watch effect is also in his book "SAD". Feel free to PM me about any questions. Hope this has helped. Matthew |

I don't know the details, but it is my understanding that all instances of The Time Machine were removed from the market a few years back after some legal negotiations. I was new to mentalism at the time it was all happening (so it was probably early 2009), and so my knowledge and recollection of the details is a bit hazy. Hopefully others will fill in the gaps or correct my mistakes. To my knowledge, there were a couple of different brands of watch using this methodology that hit the market one after another. There were legal disputes over patent and copyright on the design of the mechanism. I believe three similar products were for sale, and Time Machine was a later copy of 'Watch & Wear', which may or may not have predated a version called 'Perfect Time' (some quick Googling doesn't turn me up an easily found answer on this one, but others will know). The advertising, availability and lower price of TM killed W&W, and legal action and community outrage (that came too late) killed TM. It is now only possible to buy Perfect Time, which to my understanding is adapted slightly from the original method and apparently better quality than the other two. It is also twice as expensive. http://www.vikingmagic.com/Perfect%20Time-CW%20Original

I would like to share a great curiosity concerning 'Time Watches". I own an H&R time-piece - I've had for nearly six years - it's still running! Having said that, after the first 3 months, I changed the battery as it was not 'keeping time'. I waited another 6 months, & changed the battery for the same reason; but, guess what - after all these years the watch keeps perfect time/no battery change and this time-piece still doesn't 'predict' what only the person has set the time in their mind.

I've never had luck with these. The ones I've had in the past never kept time accurately. I've always found Banachek's method much more reliable, plus you can do it with the spectators watch.

I'm sure Looch has a great version in his Penguin Live Lecture.

I never had any luck either and I've owned three of them. However, the best gimmick watch I've ever bought was the syks and works flawlessly but is a different effect obviously.
