Any tips on magnetizing a coin shell? I beleive it is made out of copper.

Yes!
It is made out of copper. Plus you know the trick scotch and soda. It uses similar shells! |

Yes, but how could I magnetize it to be picked up by a magnet?

Sorry, if it's not made of magnetic (ferrous) material it can't be magnetized. That's simple physics.
Now, what you can do is add a thin steel shim inside the shell. Most of the time you really don't want to "magnetize" the coin anyway, you just want to make it so it's attracted to a magnet.
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Aluminum is not steel. Aluminum is aluminum, and as such is non-magnetic. That pretty much answers it. Thin steel can be found at most machine shops as "shim" material. Or, http://www.chazpro.com has pretty much anything you need.
