Ok so I have searched and this is going to sound like the most cliched sideshow stunt but who cares.
I am not sure where to post this so here it goes. Is there a place where I can learn the effect (tha for explaining purposes) David Blaine* people think "that guy again"*. Where he gets a chicken and cuts the head off and then places it again and the chicken comes back to life? He said something about being an extremely old effect and even says it in his book. About some guy doing it in Egypt to a pharoh, oldest effect ever. Or something like that. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

It is an old trick done in Egypt by... Hell I cant remember the name anymore. But that Magician did it not only with chickens and geese, but also with a Bull. Do your research, you will find out about it.
I am just to lazy to go and do a search right now. Regards Wolflock

Go to Barnes and Noble, booksamillion or the local bookstore and look for a copy of David Blaine's "misterious stranger" book. You will find you answer there...amd much much more.....
I could give you the answer straight out----but what you just posted was asking for a method---and that's against the rules here @ the Café

The magician in ancient Egypt was named Dedi. I believe there was a nice write up about him in Melbourne Christopher's book.
Here's the whole story as written in the Westcar Papyrus: http://nefertiti.iwebland.com/texts/westcar_papyrus.htm |

Unilogo, if you have a show and the proper bird, e-mail me with a bio and I will tell you how. Don't waste my time though...Typing is hard for me.

Have you tried the encyclopaedia of dove magic, or Tarbell? I'm sure one of those has an explanation of the effect.

Magic Brian does it with a rubber chicken, and it's a hoot!
Joe Fairchild does it with a live duck.

Unilogo, Slim has written some notes on this subject especially for you, since you asked the question. He has sent you the notes, which you haven't acknowledged. I strongly suggest that you read them, and when you realise what a great resource you have, that you get in contact with Slim and say thanks. Even though he's an old fart, (G) he knows his stuff.

You'd have to actually experiment, but I believe the principle is that the bird's head is surprisingly easy to "tuck out of sight", giving the impression that it is gone. Add a fake head hidden in the other hand and you've got an effect! Of course, I could be wrong.
