Anyone have any comments, good or bad, about the Contryman Isomax Headset? The one that fits over both ears.
See a picture Here! I have been using the E6 earset for about 6 months with great results. I'm considering purchasing the headset for 1) a backup and 2) for use in situations where physical activities in a particular show require something a little more stable. I use the omnidirectional version of the E6 earset. How would the quality of the headset compare? I *did* do a search on the Café and found very little info. Seems like Andy L. recommended it in the "midrange" class. Tim |

I would also look at the DPA microphones. We tested the E6 and DPA's side by side and chose the DPA. It goes over both ears, but is as small as the E6. The isomax is larger.
The headband over both ears on the DPA is very tiny, yet very strong. Hope that helps. Kevin

Does the ISOMAX an DPA fit over both ears as the headset. I have gotten do used to using the E6 fitting over just one ear and love it.

The DPA fits over both ears with a tiny wire headband. The mic attaches to the headband as a seperate piece.

Out of curiosity, why are you using an omnidirection instead of a cardoid/hypercardoid?
Your gain must be turned down and your EQ trimmed in the mid-ranges to prevent feedback. I use an omnidirectional for my video production company since I don't have to worry about feedback. However, when it comes to sound reinforcement, directional is much easier for the sound techs. Also, is there a particular reason you're going with a headset as opposed to a lav? Don't get me wrong, I love the Countryman! Just wondering why you're choosing this direction. Warm regards, Scott Sullivan |

Can someone tell me the official E6 and DPA website so I can see their pricing. The link in the first post here leads to a page that has everything about the E6 but the price ! Can someone help.

Here's a link to the E-6:
http://www.countryman.com/html_data_sheets/e6data.html You can pick them up from places like B&H Photo in New York (www.bhphoto.com) Can't help you with the DPA. Never heard of it before Kevin mentioned it. Will have to look into it. I personally like a plain old lapel mic as it gives me more freedom to control audio levels dynamically during a show. Let us know what you find! Scott |

Scott,
You asked about headset vs. lapel. I need the headset for "special" vocal sound effects with the mic element right up to my mouth. The type of control you would have with a hand held microphone. Hope that makes sense. As for directionl/omni dir, I tried both and get better results with the omnidirectional. The link I listed in the first post takes you to the price page for Northern Sound. I'm very impressed with the service this company offers. Tim |

You have to special order this one, call Northern light and sound for best price. This is the one that I recommend for one man shows with no techs or lousy sound systems situations. I agree with Sullivan, For the travelling pro, omni is just not realistic. Of course, Realistic isn't realistic, either! |
