I must just be weird because I can't imagine me doing this for real. Hope all of you have fun.

David Blaine definitly implants the string into his skin, I am 100% sure of it. I do not know the method but it is not a prostetic of any kind.
By the way why do you want to copy what Blaine does, I don't know if you realise this but regular people give credit to the magician that they seen an effect first. If a lay man seen david bite a quarter, no matter how well you did that trick blaine would get the credit. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say and that is "be original". |

Is your ear pierced? Why not try pulling a string or yarn out of that hole. Palming the whole effect and then having it come out of front of your ear pierce hole. I would imagine some sort of small/minute lead thread would make this possible to push thru from the back and conceal the balance of string in your palm.
Just an idea.... |

You guys are missing the point entirely! Blaine only MIMICKED the thread pull, and the string was added digitally!

Grimm. There is one method that works well. It is the real one, I can't magaine a gimmicked version that could work anywhere near as well, unless you had access to the best prosthetics people.
Four jokers, I don't think that the original poster is trying to copy Blaine. He just sounds likes he was inspired to do it because he say someone Blaines presentation. This stunt has been around for a LOT longer than Blaine, indeed Blaines presentation was if anything pretty poor. On the subject of whether Blaine did it for real. He did. If you know the method you will know what to look for, and it is there. that's probably the reason it was a poor presentation (IMO). I doubt he was totally comfortable with the method, which is why he kept the thread quite short. As far as originalty goes. I have performed a completly new version of this stunt, something which, to the best of my knowledge has never been done before. It is more physically tramatic than the normal version, but it is worth it for the right reasons. I won't say anything more about that until I have done it on national TV though. No way do I want this one stolen! Trust me, it really takes the stunt further. Cheers David

People have talked about peircings,i know that isn't spelt right but hey! and I was wondering, where do you get it done? or is it in the normal belly peircing place? or do you do it yourself with a needle with the thread on it? I just cant imaging going to a place and telling them you want a hole, one hole, by there *pointing to lower than normal* ? or do I need to buy the book or whatever? and if so where from?
I thought it was done with make-up but then again, it does look like the original method. daz |

Daz, it's real! Get a teacher... The book with "The Brahmo Thread" is Swami/Mantra. Still, it isn't the best way to learn... You will not be a performer in a week or so, give each stunt the attention it needs, and learn presentation! I supect you are still in school, learn some theater...

Well, I know that you are reffering to me learning 3 stunts at once, fire eating, human blockhead and well, this, but I realy don't want to learn this! I try to watch most threads and this caught my eye, but I have Aichmophobia - the fear of needles, that's why I cant beleive that someone would do that for a trick! and its over pretty quickly to!
Yes I do go to college actually, but I don't think that this has anything to do with it. thanks for the tips though slim..... daz |
