Try this:
Stand at the top of a flight of normal width stairs (there needs to be walls all the way down) and give the dove a toss. Mine flew right back to my other finger. Do this every day for half an hour and it just might work! Ben |

That's a good idea. First of all, the dove has to be finger tamed. But the best method I use is to feed the dove from my hand.

Lance would say that what he did to get his Dove's to go out and then turn to come back was to have the hall way as was mentioned but have a sheet at the end so that the Dove would have to turn back so it would not fly into the sheet. Lance also feed his Dove's in the Lamp so they would fly back to the lamp. Amos does the same with his Dove's in that he would feed them in his hand to fly back to him, and in the cage to get them to stay there.
Shamada said what he did would have the Dove loaded in his sleeve head first, so that the tail is at the end of the cuff, so that when the Dove is tossed, the first thing they see is him and come back to the cane he would have. |

Head direction for loading doesn't always matter; I suggest getting Tony Clark's videos for training Doves. Tony has a 6 week return flight program; he uses a black curtain and does not give treats for good behavior. There is a lot of good material out there for doves on the market, but I've found Tony's training to be a great program.
