I am interested in learning more rope magic. Which videos would you suggest. Daryl's Learning the Ropes or 3 Ropes and a Baby. Other suggestions are welcome.
Also I forgot to list Loose Ends in my choice of videos. |

If you are new to rope tricks I would start with either Three Ropes and a Baby or the Mamma Mia Rope Trick by Aldo Colombini.
Both Tabary's Daryl's videos are wonderful but there is so much info that you tend to do nothing because you do not really know where to start. If you learn one of the above routines, you can start performing. Then get the other videos looking for ways to change the routine and make it your own. |

You might try "Abbott's Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks for Magicians" compiled by Stewart James. There are two volumes. The first one has been reprinted by Dover. I don't know about the reprinting of vol. 2. You might want to check with H&R Books.

It all depends on what you want to learn. If you want to learn one trick, the Mamma Mia or Three Ropes and a Baby will serve you well. However, if you want to learn rope effects in general the Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks is the best route to start (I am not familiar with Daryl's Videos, except to the extent that they exist). Tabary Videos teach an entire routine with several additional ideas and if you have no experience in ropes it will be difficult to seperate the effects and perform them independently. I have performed several rope routines, but I go back to the encyclopedia of rope magic time and time again.
Abbott's Magic has all 3 volumes of the encyclopedia for sale. They are in their most recent catalog (No. 25). I don't have a price sheet. But you can call them. Hope this helps. Steven

I've used all the above, but find 3 ropes and a baby to be my favorite. Worth buying and underpriced in my opinion.
