Please listen to me on this? My intent with this post is not to insult anyone here.
I am merely tyring to find out more about database management from a magicians perspective as it relates to marketing your services. I feel that the below experience can be related here because Dwyane Faux "The Top Banana" is the individual who raised this particular service. The catalyst for the disucussion was a magician asking each of those present, "How much do you make working in your restaurant gig?" I was on Dean's website and participated after an email inviation led me to a chat room discussion a few weeks ago on a Sunday evening. User Id "The Top Banana" claimed to be making in excess of five figures each month performing restaurant magic in the Seattle area. I didn't find it entirely unbelievable, but had some doubts nonetheless. I asked "The Top Banana" (A sometimes member here) what particular positioning methods he used to command such a figure. He was reluctant to divulge his method as I would be to someone who has not paid their dues. A few of us wanted to learn how one could accomplish this? Each time he declined. Dutch Haling "Saydean" and myself pressed the others online to explain to us the principles or even the name of the establishment as we were in disbelief? Not one single person stepped up to explain, but to say this was true because they too were doing it. After being threatened with expulsion from the chat room by RJ Pilling, I ceased my line of questioning as this was deemed "Off Topic". When the time for open discussion was allowed, I finally learned from Dwyane Faux that he wasn't really even charging for the magic he performed, but he was making in excess of five figures by managing this restaurant's client database. So it wasn't for performing magic, but for doing a clerical service. Still five figures? That's a lot of burgers eh? You have to lick a heck of a lot of stamps for 5 figures each month. I am not calling this impossible, but I'd like to know if any of the members here can corroborate a similiar experience? I am asking this because when I pressed him for the name of the restaurant he declined by saying "The restaurant would'nt like for me to be revealing their name in a public forum!" I perform locally at various restaurants and not one single establishment would mind me giving their joint a free plug. This is why I am turning to you. My esteemed Magic Café' Members do any of you have experience marketing this kind of service? Signed, eternally grateful for your experience, r2 |

Yeah, r2,
I make five figures a month. Of course a decimal point falls in there somewhere, my friend. It is all just a matter of perspective. Darn decimal point. Cheers, Tom |

If this is untrue Reverend here are the members from your board who were present when it was discussed. These are also members from this board so, I didn't list the ones who are only active on your board.
Saydean Dutch Haling RJ Pilling Great8Donald Dean Hankey David J Greene Tom Dwyane Faux "Top Banana" So now I'm a liar is that correct Reverend? Feel free to ask any of them. Better yet why not invite your Top Banana here to correct any errors in my post? This is slanderous if I made this up! Who would have the courage to post this in an open and public forum if it weren't true? I would be a fool to do so. Nonetheless, your comments have added nothing to this topic. You surely had a lot to share with your members when this was being discussed on your board. Why not share with the members here? Now I am starting to see the "REAL" side of you "Reverend" There is such a thing in the bible as false prophets. |

Rey Rey - you are my hero. You are the yang to the i'm-the-best-ego-maniac-marketer-mass-mailing-magician yang. Thanks for asking the tough questions, brother.

Oh, yes Kyle was also present. I cannot think of any other member here who so openly shares with complete honesty. He is a Boy Scout who always tells the truth. We have our differences here, but we respect each others opinions.
If you read this Kyle, feel free to call me a liar if, what I posted is not true! I will let that speak for itself. |

Uh...That was supposed to be yin/yang, not yang/yang on my last post.
Anyway, my point is, I think its important that some of the outragious cliams made by promoters of these marketing systems be challanged. Thanks ReyRey. |

Dean, please clarify. What part isn't true? That he manages the database? That he claimed to make five figures a month? That he actually *makes* six figures a month? Or that the post actually took place?
Please, don't just say "UNTRUE" and bail on us! BTW, I know of another performer who does the same thing, manages his restaurant client's database. Makes nowhere near that doing it, though ... |

Rey, I did happen to be there that night and the figure was $2400 a month. That is less than 600 a week. What’s so odd about that? Rey, you wasn't listening. It's hard to hear whats being said when your not listening.
The real reason Dwyane never answered the question that night was because he was insulted and flat out called a liar before he had time to even begin to answer. I certainly wouldn’t answered it either. I thought he was trying to be helpful by sharing free information. (He doesn’t sell a course on it) For the record, later that night he did share with a couple of us and it made a lot of sense and seemed quite possible. No, I don't own stock in the Dean's list, but do find it to be a very helpful place. Tom

Hey Gang,
Just got off the phone with Brother Rey Rey himself and we had a great chat! Too, I WILL be responding in DETAIL as to what happened and in response to the posts and questions here, but right this second, I have "limited" internet access and an 'buried' in snow which I am on the way out the door right now to take care of... but I will be back to make absolutely CLEAR what happened and exactly how it all went down with live chat "transcripts" in hand if need be. I have done what TB suggest, and posted like a year ago on another forum (with links durring the chat itself) so there "should" have been zero misunderstandings, but such is life. Best to all! I am still at your service and In HIS Service, Dean "Not A prophet of ANY kind, let alone a 'false' prophet" Hankey (Hehehehe!) PS We all good... no need to raise any hairs here. - Woo Hoo! I'm 'off', but you knew that.

ReyRey -
I see it from a different perspective from yourself too, but with all the mud being slung around, don't want any on myself. (You asked us to speak up if we saw it otherwise than you.) If it were me, I'd talk with them directly, but politely, for the answers I wanted. Wouldn't it make more sense to discuss the details of another forum's live chat on that other forum (privately, or on that forum), and get help from the actual people involved? I don't know, just thinking out loud. You could be getting helpful advice, rather than arguing and getting nowhere. Just trying to see some benefit from this thread. - Donald ...who also doesn't offer any products, courses, newsletters... but I sure like to learn from them P.S. I, too, like Dean Hankey, Steve Hart, Jim Snack, Kyle Peron, and yourself and so many others, have never been paid a cent for all the advice I offer on the various forums, including the 1000+ posts I've made helping people here on the Magic Café. But I am far from great, I just like to be helpful. There are lots of others who know way more than me, and do way more than me.

I was also there and I saw it the same as Tom and Dean and also Donald. I am not here to call anyone a liar as that is not my nature nor should it be the nature of this forum or any other forum.
We are here to be able to agree to disagree and that is what makes the Café a great place. I may not always agree with others, but I would think we can have deep discussions about topics without getting personal or combative or calling people so called "liars" that is not what it is about. I am glad that rey rey and Dean got a chance t talk and I also hope they had a chance to clear the air. There really was a BIG misunderstanding that night that led down the path to some very ill feelings and attitudes. This happens when all we see is type and never get the full meaning or tone behind what is being said. I just hope this clears things up a bit more. kyle

Hey there,
I caught the tail end of the chat. I was able to get the links to where "The Top Banana" originally shared how he actually was making the amount that has been discussed. Very interesting and encouraging, in that if you happen to stumble onto the right situation at the right time and can be a solutions provider, you can make a good living at it. It does go on to mention that it was for a 3 month stint and after that it was going to be reviewed by the restaurant. It was never mentioned again if the restaurant wanted to continue with the TTB taking care of that side of the business. Let's all be nice to each other now, the Dave Dee thread got locked for a lot less than people calling each other liars. JoJo

Please go back and re-read my original post my friends? The "top banana" was only mentioned as an example. The question was, are any of you offering the same kind of service and getting comparable fees?
So far, no one has posted with a yes. Make your own inferences or draw your own conclusions, as to the veracity of the previous claim based upon similiar experience. I have not been surprised by any of your posts, thus far. |

I was also in that chat and Duane did say it was "5 figure income per month." Later he changed ot to $2400 per month, which is 5 figure income per year by my math, so I gave him the benifit of the doubt, fast fingers while typeing in the amount. What Rey Rey is asking, I feel, is a legitimate question and I thank you for bringing it up in public.
