My wife and I are working n a routine that uses the rope tie as Explained by Falkenstein and Willard (in their three volume video set. They are primary mentalists but they have this one "escape" on he vids) ) that they call the Gypsy Msytery.
They don't credit the tie/escape to anyone, and I was just wonderering the actual source/creator of it. For those who don't know the Gypsy Mystery, the woman has her hands tied behind her backw with a short rope, and then is tied with a much longer separate rope arounnd her neck, then around each arm, and then around her waist and knottend, and around her again and knotted. Three knots are shown on the ropes on teh body, first near the neck, then at teh side (the last know( and also directly in fornt) in addition to the knot on the rope on the hands. After a hoop/drape is lifted, and then dropped, she stands still tied, but now weraing a man's jacket [b]under the previosuly tied ropes[/b} It is a nice effect, and quite startling. We are doing a duel routine, where she is tied with rope, and I am chained at hands, chain to my feet, and both feet chained, and wearing my colorful glittery tux jacket. We are at opposite open areas on the stage 15 feet appart. The hoop drapes are lifted and we are both hidden for a few moments, and when the hoops are dropped, I am still chained, but now with out my jacket, and she is still completely roped, but now wearing my jacket. I call it The Gyspy Lover's Mystery (that is the patter and premise) But I would really like to credit the creator of that particular rope tie. Thanks in advance for any information. BroDavid

Well, I will leave it to you to find the names and places....
Bottom line is that this tie is on the tape because they felt an act in Europe stole a bit from them. So they stole their feature effect, and put it on the tape. This was all covered in magic a while back. |
